Seminar Room TNI, de Wittenstraat 25, 1052 AK Amsterdam
19:00-21:00, Fri 3 Feb
Join us to hear Tomas Gomez Membreno, the current coordinator of the Honduran organisation COPINH, share the story of his community's struggle.
COPINH (the Civil Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras) defends the rights of the indigenous Lenca people in Hondura, where the contenious Agua Zarca dam project was being built. Almost a year ago, their former leader Berta Caceres was murdered for her fight against this dam. The Dutch development bank FMO has been financing this dam, but is now looking for a responsible way out.
Free event, all are welcome.
