As the holiday season approaches, my inner conversations turn to embracing the slowness, hibernating at home more often, and nurturing my body's health. Between Thanksgiving week and the end of January, I often commit to a wellness re-set protocol. Instead of letting the temptations of gluttony take over, which invite too much regret, I consciously choose an occasional splurge and enjoy it fully. Yet, I return to my intention to 'treat myself' to proper diet and exercise, for a strong and resilient body temple.
I had found myself entangled in the habit of an evening martini as I made dinner. Now I am having a delicious herbal tea instead. The colder weather is helpful, prompting me to ingest nourishing foods and beverages. Noticing a stuffy nose or headache, fatigue or brain fog after too much of anything provides me the motivation I need to say NO. When I take care of what I ingest, in all forms, I feel physically vital and mentally clear. A sensitivity to my body's signals has increased over the years, and though annoying at times, I am grateful for the near-instant wisdom it provides when I'm not in alignment with my ultimate well-being.
Consuming less has me also feeling lighter and more energetic, so I can track that novel I am reading better, be more patient and present in my interactions, and show up to my work with a ton of creative juice! The positive outcomes from redirecting my focus and energy has been quick and is felt deeply.
Enjoying festive gatherings, as well as time for restoration are important as the 2023 year concludes. I'll spend the Makahiki (rainy season) on Kaua'i with my loves, Adam, Magic, and Sammy. My weekly classes in Kapa'a continue with Yoga Essentials on Saturday at 10:00 am + I've got a new Yin Yoga with Sound Healing on Thursdays, starting November 30, at 7pm. Remote or In-person sessions for spiritual guidance and empowerment can be booked through the first week of January.
Start the 2024 year off with a Yoga Immersion January 11 - 23! Attend this 13-day Immersion remotely or in person for 200 RYT Certification, for continuing education, or to simply return to the healing benefits of Yoga practice. We will be recording all our meetings so students can practice with us from anywhere on Earth. What a powerful way to begin the new year, in community, and dedicated to your health!
