This is the Sacred Lake of Phoksundo in Nepal’s roadless most remote region of Dolpo. It really is this color. The only way to get to it is an extremely rugged trek over several high snowbound passes.
Wheeler Expeditions has just secured a special permit allowing us to fly there in our helicopters during Himalaya Helicopter Expedition IV in November.

The Tibetan people of Dolpo have retained the original religion of Tibet – Bon.
There is an eons-old Bon Gompa (monastery/temple) on the lake shore. We’ll visit it...

The Dolpo are unknown to the world but are friendly and hospitable.

These yak herding Dolpo people live in highly self-sufficient communities and rarely see Westerners except for a handful of trekkers who pass through.
You will see how they live in this isolated area. |

The Sacred Lake of Phoksundo is considered to be the most magical place in the Himalayas.
It's another reason for you to join us on our Himalaya Helicopter Expedition in November. |
