Subject: [WP Theme Igniter] Ever wished you could fast-forward a sales video?
Hi Friend,
I've been back in the UK for over a week now, but I still seem to be suffering from jet-lag. I don't know how long it's going to last, but I'd like it to go away now please...
If you're ever feeling non-optimal, have limited time for marketing or would simply like to create more time for the things you love, you might be interested in these sneaky time-saving tools that I use regularly...
They are 100% free and easy to use :)
Have you ever been frustrated by a sales video that seems to go on forever and has no controls to let you fast-forward or rewind? I personally HATE those videos! Marketers who do that should be lined up against the wall and given a stiff talking to! :)
Maybe you sometimes wish that you were able to speed up or slow down a tutorial video, or simply just save it to your computer to watch at a later date?
Me too! And not being one to sit around idly accepting my fate (in this case spending my life waiting for sales videos to end), I went out and found a solution.
And since I'm a wonderful, generous human being (hee hee!), I'm going to share the steps needed to do this with you today:
1. Install Video Download Helper extension for Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/
Remember to restart Firefox once it's installed
2. Download VLC Player from here and install it:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
3. Go to the url of the video you want to download
4. Follow the directions in the User Manual to download the video. You can see the manual here:
http://www.downloadhelper.net/manual.php
NB - if the DownloadHelper icon isn't rotating, you won't be able to download the video. A page refresh usually fixes this.
5. Once the video is downloaded, you can open it using VLC Player (or Windows Media player).
6. Congratulations! You now have the ability to control the playback of the video so you can fast forward to the important part (ie the price!) without having to sit through potentially 60 minutes or more of pitch, thus saving you valuable time! Simples! :)
7. To make this even sweeter, you can actually speed up the playback of the video and watch it more quickly. You could maybe use this to decrease the time it takes to watch tutorial videos or even slow them down so it's easier to take notes!
You can do this in VLC player by clicking on Playback->Speed in the menu at the top of the player. You can even jump to a specific time by clicking on Playback->Jump to sepcific Time (or Ctrl+T)
In Windows Media Player, in the Playback view, right click anywhere in the window and click Enhancements->Play Speed Settings and hey presto you can adjust the speeds!
I use this technique all time to save me literally years* of my life and to save videos for later viewing. I hope it saves you some time too! :)
Feel free to hit reply and let me know whether you found this helpful and whether you'd like to learn more stuff like this.
This week I'm going to do my best to make some training to show you how to put a Paypal button on your sales pages. So look out for that email in the next week or so.
To your success!
Sally
