It's Sally Lazarus here...
Hubby and I went to see Phill Jupitus on Monday evening and had a great time :) It was a bit different from the stand-up comedy you generally see...
It was split into 3 parts. In each part Phill played a different deceased character... (yes I did say "deceased", lol!)
Then members of the audience asked him questions, such as "what was the secret of your longevity?" and the dead character answered in an often hilarious manner.
The final character he played was himself after his death in June 2052 on the eve of his 90th birthday, so we got to ask him questions about the future, such as "does Antarctica melt?" and "what are next week's lottery numbers?". Lol!
It got me thinking... to get this far in my business I have often stepped waaaaay out of my comfort zone, because that's where the real magic happens...
But it must take something pretty special to stand up in front of a room full of strangers and effectively improvise your whole show, not knowing whether the audience will enter into the spirit of things or whether the whole thing will fall flat...
I would hate to do it! How about you?
So maybe next time you're feeling rather too attached to that comfort zone try visualizing the end goal and imagining how much worse it could be, then you may find the courage to move forward :)
