Make Your Website Stand Out For Free With Google Web Fonts

Hey there!

It's Sally Lazarus here. I must apologise for going AWOL again... seems to be happening a lot lately...

Last week I replaced my hubby's dead laptop with one that has...

Da da daaaaa....

Windows 8! Eek!!!

I don't seriously know what Microsoft were thinking...

I'm sure somebody must have been high...

"Hey, I've got a great idea! Let's make the Windows interface look like a Smartphone"...

Never mind the fact that most people don't have a touch screen on their computer!

And Windows 8 is a complete pain in the backside to use with a keyboard and mouse!

And it's about as intuitive as a Klingon spaceship control panel...

I actually had to Google how to turn the bloody thing off!

Type "windows 8 is " (with the space at the end) into Google and this is what pops up under the search bar. It made me laugh:
Looks like you don't have images enabled
Anyway, after struggling with the laptop for an hour or so, constantly having to resist a compelling urge to throw it out of the Windows (pun intended), I discovered Classic Shell and now I am at peace with the world :)

If you're stuck with a Windows 8 machine that you hate do yourself a favour and install Classic Shell. Click here to download it for free.

Now I've got that rant out of the way...

Make Your Website Stand Out For Free With Google Web Fonts

Do you ever get sick of the dreadful selection of "web safe" fonts available to use on your site?

It doesn't exactly help make your site attractive does it?

Well Google have recently done something good for once!

Don't believe me? Well it's true!

They probably have some ulterior motive, such as stealing part of your brain, but they have released an amazing free resource - Google Web Fonts

==> Click here to have a browse around

There are no less than 629 web fonts available for you to use on your website. Woohoo!

Web fonts have many benefits (engagement, uniqueness, SEO, etc.) and above all you can make your text look exactly the way you want to really emphasise your point or express your personality.

See the attached infographic to check out some samples of the fonts and effects you can get and the benefits :)

And you don't have to worry about them not showing up in your visitor's browser because it's handled in the cache :)

The only drawback is that it's a bit complicated to use the fonts in WordPress...

Luckily, there's a simple solution that will be available soon...

It will allow you to use these fonts easily and even add some great font effects too! :)

So look out for my email on Thursday.

Until then, have fun looking through the available fonts :)

To your success!

Sally

She started out as a programmer many moons ago, before the Internet as we know it today was born… No, not when dinosaurs roamed the Earth! She's not that old! How rude! :P

She's been working online since late 2011. She doesn't claim to know it all. She's still learning too, but she wants to share her knowledge with you and help you succeed online.

She's an ethical marketer and loves helping people to reach their goals. When she sends out a promotion it will always be well thought out, even if it means sending it a day or two after launch.

She will investigate it properly beforehand, get hold of a review copy or buy it herself. She wouldn't recommend anything that she didn't believe in or wouldn't use herself.

Her aim is to save you time by doing the research for you, to make it easier for you to figure out if a particular product is likely to be able to help you reach your goals.
