Hey there!
I've just posted my recipe for Scottish porridge in a Facebook group for the chance to win lifetime membership of a new marketing forum owned by a Scotsman...
It's an odd competition I know, but I have porridge for breakfast every morning (yum!) and have pretty much perfected the recipe...
Well it's perfect for me, although possibly not the most traditional...
I add blueberries to it and banana and so much cinnamon that it sends my eldest daughter scurrying for cover whenever I make it. Lol!
Hubby loves it too, but I'm well aware that the chances of a true Scotsman judging it to be the "perfect porridge" are somewhere between slim and non existent...
I can almost imagine the look on his face when he sees my post...
Probably much the same as mine when I think of traditional Scottish porridge - made with water and salt. Ick! x-/
Still, if I can introduce just one other person to the wonder that is blueberry and banana porridge, then my life's work will be complete ;)
This got me to thinking...
You will never be able to find the perfect recipe for everyone in your online marketing...
So never be afraid to be yourself online.
Or offline for that matter.
If you put your personality into whatever you do, some people will love it and some will hate it...
But the ones who like your personality, the ones who really gel with you are the ones who are likely to become lifelong fans, customers and maybe even friends.
You can never be all things to all people.
So pick your target audience carefully and reach out to them directly.
For then it will be like you are a long lost friend and they will follow you to the ends of the Earth...
Oops there's a hint of dramatic license there, but you get my drift :)
So give some thought to finding your Blueberry & Banana Porridge...
What makes you unique and how can you make yourself stand out online...
How you can connect better with your ideal audience?
And don't worry about losing a few people along the way. They probably never would have bought from you in the first place :)
Until next time...

I have learned more in a couple of hours from his course than in a whole term's evening classes. Click the link below to check it out:

PPPS. In case you were wondering, this is how I make the porridge I have for breakfast every morning. It's super yummy :) I use rice milk, but you could use cow's milk or water instead.
40g Whole Rolled Oats 220ml Rice Milk Pinch sea salt Cinnamon to taste (approx 1 tsp) 40g Blueberries Half a banana, sliced Honey to taste (approx 1 tsp)
Mix oats, rice milk and salt in a saucepan. Bring to boil. Sprinkle on cinnamon to taste and mix in well. Add blueberries and simmer, stirring occasionally until porridge thickens, blueberries start to split and colour starts to turn purple. Add more rice milk if necessary for desired consistency. Finally stir in sliced banana and honey to taste and enjoy :)
