Bad Bot Attack Drags On!
Happy Halloween! :)
So the bad bot attack drags into a fourth day on one of my sites...
61 attempts at logging into "admin" on my site over the past 3 days.
And they're still coming.
That's nearly 200 different IP addresses currently locked out and it's stressing me out more than a little.
My heart has been super jumpy the last few days - extra beats and missed beats abound. I'm sure the extra stress is not helping :-/
Yesterday I renamed my login page, but they're still finding it. Somehow.
Which is rather confusing...
This morning I found a free plugin called BruteProtect, which is aimed at fixing exactly the problem I'm having with many different IP addresses trying to login.

It basically compiles a list of all malicious login attempts of ALL users, so once a bad bot has been identified it can be blocked for everyone.
Which means the more sites that install it the better! :)
Anyway, so far, so good.
It's blocked 6 attempts in the hour or so since it's been installed, but I'm not holding my breath...
I'll keep you updated...
