Sorry for the slight Tardis... erm... tardiness of part 4 of my Adventures in Facebook...
I had a rather eventful weekend which meant work on the page came to a halt...
First there was the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary episode - how great was that?! :)
Then there was a trip to the Warner Bros Studio Tour to see the actual Harry Potter set with the Great Hall and Hogwarts Castle and the Knight Bus and everything :)
A brilliant day out if you're ever near Watford :)
Everything was overshadowed somewhat by a night plagued with Atrial Fibrillation and no sleep, but I managed to have a great time none-the-less :)
So... onto part #4 of my Facebook adventure...
If you missed the first 3 parts you can read them on my blog:
==> http://sallylazarus.com/adventures-in-facebook-1/
If you remember, I'd set up the page and added a profile pic and cover image.
Now came the fun part - adding content :)
To fill up the page with great content, you can search blogs and news in your niche and share links as well as sharing posts from other pages.
It always helps to add an eye-catching photo as well as a link.
If your niche is something you're passionate about, then just share stuff that interests you...
If you're in a niche that you're not so interested in, then it's a bit more difficult...
However, you can easily find out the topics that most appeal to your target audience by looking at other Facebook pages in your niche...
Find the posts with the most likes, comments and shares and these are the sorts of things you can share too...
In fact you can get started right away and just share the posts you find here :)
Go on... I'll wait for you...
Ok? Let's continue...
Here's a neat little trick - when you find a good page, make sure to "use Facebook as " and like it...
Then you'll build up a nice little collection of content to look through when you're searching for things to share on your own page.
When you're initially building up page content you don't need to bother with sharing original stuff - just copy what's working on other pages.
As long as you're starting to provide killer content that will entice people to click that like button, then that's the main thing :)
Once you start to get likes, then you'll want to post your own content so that when it gets shared it gets shared along with your page name...
Here's a sneaky little trick you can use...
When you share an image from another page, you can download the image, upload it to your own page with a link to the original page.
That way any shares will give you both credit, but the name of YOUR page is most prominent!
Simples! :)
Another way to find good pages to follow is to look at the pages that others in your niche have liked.
That gave me a ton of pages to follow that I hadn't come across before and thus access to a lot more content :)
Once you've built up a decent amount of content over a day or so, you can ask a few friends to like the page...
If you don't want other marketers getting in on the act, then don't like your own page.
And then you're ready to run some ads! :)
So that's what we'll be covering next time.
I've got another busy weekend ahead - a visit from No.2 daughter, Xmas dinner beta edition (because said daughter cannot be here on the day - stupid doctoring shifts), Ardal O'Hanlon and (so help me!) a Wurzels concert!
So if I survive that lot, look out for part #5 of my Adventures in Facebook early next week.
To your success!

PS. If you're wondering what course I'm following to set up my page and my marketing, it's a mixture of Reverse Blogging and FB Dynamo by Mark Thompson and Peter van Zijl.
Both are stand up marketers and very good at answering all your questions. Plus the FB Dynamo Facebook group is pretty helpful too.

She's been working online since late 2011. She doesn't claim to know it all. She's still learning too, but she wants to share her knowledge with you and help you succeed online.
She's an ethical marketer and loves helping people to reach their goals. When she sends out a promotion it will always be well thought out, even if it means sending it a day or two after launch.
She will investigate it properly beforehand, get hold of a review copy or buy it herself. She wouldn't recommend anything that she didn't believe in or wouldn't use herself.
Her aim is to save you time by doing the research for you, to make it easier for you to figure out if a particular product is likely to be able to help you reach your goals.
