Subject: Pete Weldon to Run for a Second Term as Winter Park City Commissioner
November 16, 2018
Dear Fellow Resident,
I am passionate about the character and quality of Winter Park and am pleased to announce my commitment to run and serve for a second term as your City Commissioner. The election is March 12, 2019.
We have achieved remarkable results over the past 3 years and I am excited to keep the ball rolling in a professional and positive direction. My voice and my vote have supported a long list of achievements. Here are a few of the highlights;
- Removed high density apartment zoning from our menu of zoning options. No more Paseo’s or Ravaudage’s!
- Purchased 55 acres of green space in the Howell Branch Preserve and working on improvements with $2 million in State grant money.
- Renovation of Showwalter Field with new artificial turf surface, new track, new scoreboard and new locker rooms.
- Renovation of Azalea Lane Tennis Center; resurfaced clay and hard courts, new shaded bleachers, new lighting and much more….
- Denning Drive is being converted to a landscaped boulevard with decorative lighting, underground electric, and a wide multi-use path separated from the traffic lanes to provide safe bicycle and pedestrian connectivity from Mead Garden to Solana Ave and the Whole Foods complex; all while maintaining needed vehicular capacity.
- Winter Park will be a railroad quiet zone by the fall of 2019. No more train horns!
