Subject: More Negative Nonsense From Todd Weaver

More negative nonsense and fear tactics from Todd Weaver!

I should not be surprised by Todd’s many “self-enamored” fix-it claims, especially after learning about his self-chosen email TodTheGod@gmail.com. But when he lies about my record, I will not turn a blind eye.

Todd Weaver, for the “umpteenth” time, is misleading you…so much so that the city and our current mayor have issued official statements correcting him.  Over the past few months:

  • He claimed an "innocent mistake" when he was confronted by the Sentinel for running an illegal Airbnb operation; however, that was AFTER first denying and trying to hide it.
  • He mislead the City Commission and you about securing "contributions" to "save" trees. None of it was true.
  • He mislead the public about the new library-events center, fashioning problems, then appointing himself as the solution (with no plan!).

His most recent “straw man fallacy” mailer makes it clear that Todd Weaver can't be trusted or believed.

Todd’s recent mail piece is just false! I support current height restrictions and have throughout my service to the city. I never voiced support for an “extraordinary height variance” for a parking garage. I also do NOT have “BIG PLANS for the Orange Avenue Corridor.”

The FACTS about the "garage:" The commission was voting to allocate dollars in contemplation of a possible parking structure to be built by Rollins on East Lyman Ave. We did not discuss height variances. My vote was 100% about enabling city staff, with maximum flexibility, to begin discussions with Rollins regarding a possible joint venture for more parking. The actual minutes highlight my intent and make it clear that my vote was for discussion purposes only and that I still had questions that needed answering before I would give or withhold my support. (see pages 3 & 4):

CRA Minutes 2018.07.23

FACT: I never supported or voted to approve a six-story parking structure.

FACT: This contemplated project was dropped from consideration as Rollins revised their plans and they are building a new five story parking structure on campus (South side of Fairbanks) with unanimous approval of the city commission.

The second statement is intended to scare you without any basis in fact. There are no “big plans” and any changes to Orange Avenue (or not) will only result from extensive public process. The city is planning community meetings for this Spring to discuss mixed use concepts (like Hannibal Square) for the Orange Avenue Corridor.

Enough of this negative nonsense! We need experienced, positive, proven leadership in Winter Park.

I ask for your vote on March 12th.
