From: Pete Weldon, Winter Park Vice Mayor

To: Fellow Winter Park Residents,

This message covers two topics.

First, you are invited to attend my “coffee talk” session at the Winter Park Welcome Center across from City Hall at 8:00 AM on Thursday, October 26th. I look forward to addressing your questions, listening to your concerns, and sharing views of our city’s opportunities and challenges.

Second, I encourage every Winter Park resident to stay connected to city information resources.

I have learned a great deal in my years serving on city boards and now as your Vice Mayor. One important lesson is distinguishing emotional or politically motivated communications from those founded in facts that provide relevant context for reasoned policy decisions.

You and I spend almost $600,000 each year for a professional communications staff whose core purpose is to communicate relevant facts about our city. Reporting to the City Manager who reports to commission members, our communications department is directly accountable for the accuracy and relevancy of what they publish. City communications must be complete and accurate. This discipline is enforced by the reporting structure and by professional standards.

GET THE FACTS FROM THE PEOPLE WE PAY TO ENSURE ACCURACY

Sign up for these resources from these links or from the bottom of every page on the city’s web site.

I hope to see you on the 26th and encourage you to sign up for one or more of your city's communication resources.

Sincerely,

Pete Weldon
Winter Park Vice Mayor
