Thanks to those who contacted the city commission yesterday. Please thank the commission for moving forward with the Library/Event Center Construction Contract: mayorandcommissioners@cityofwinterpark.org

The following is from a message from Sarbina Bernat, Executive Director of the Winter Park Pubic Library.

"I hope you're reading this in the morning! We had a good result from the special Commission meeting: a 3-2 (Cooper, Leary, DeCiccio) vote to move forward as planned, with a few small amendments.

The Commission voted to investigate some exterior, construction, and design changes: 1) explore replacing outdoor astrotruf with grass, 2) explore solar panels for the library roof, 3) explore design for a parking garage, 4) explore suggested changes to drainage solutions for the library basement, 5) eliminate the perceived falling risk from children climbing the second floor shelves in the library, and 6) explore interior design changes in the library and events center.

Regarding number six, a workshop has been called for Monday, 5/18. Library staff will participate to answer questions. I don't have much more detail than that, but I'm sure we'll hear from City staff and the owner's rep tomorrow. We will be very happy to have the chance to walk the Commissioners old and new through our fantastic library design."
