Subject: Broadstone Residents - Vote Tuesday, March 12th

Vote Pete Weldon

Dear Broadstone Resident and fellow Winter Parker,

Tomorrow, March 12th, there is an election and the outcome could determine whether the new Library and Events Center - down the street from you in MLK Park - will be further delayed and tied up in court or worse, stopped.  If I’m elected, the Library and Events Center will get built.  If my opponent (Todd Weaver) is elected, he will be another vote to delay or even kill the project!

So if you want to see a world class, state of the art Library and Events Center that will be a treasure for our residents, please take 5 minutes to go vote!  Your polling location is the First Baptist Church of Winter Park, 1021 New York Avenue. (directions from Broadstone: Lee Road east to Webster; left on Webster Ave, then left (north) on New York Ave. Polls are open 7AM to 7PM.)

As for my background, I served on three Winter Park boards under three different Mayors starting in 2008 and was elected to the city commission in 2016.

I have led many important strategic initiatives as a volunteer and as your city commissioner.

  • Promoted the improvements on Denning Drive to include full landscaping, decorative street lights, and electric undergrounding.
  • Helped initiate our Forestry Management program for street trees beginning in 2007.
  • Have kept our electric underground funding at the maximum level to speed the process.
  • Successfully led the effort to build unrestricted city financial reserves from $8 million to $14 million, providing needed resources to respond to hurricanes.
  • Voted to purchase 55 acres of new green space, supported with a $2 million state grant for improvements.
  • Voted for a new wholesale power agreement that will mean over $2 million per year in savings that can be used to accelerate undergrounding beginning January 2020.
