Veterans, Time and Winter
Several important reminders for the next week.
This Thursday, November 11, be sure and thank a Veteran for their service. Veterans are anybody who served in the United States Armed Forces (that were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable). We all know somebody who qualifies. Thursday is their day. Maybe it is your day? To our readers who are Veterans, all of the team at WILMOTH want to thank you for dedicating your lives and time to ensuring our freedom! We recognize this simple newsletter might not even exist if not for your commitment! THANK YOU!
Another, much less important reminder. At 2 AM tomorrow morning those of us in the United States (well most of us) will fall back an hour marking the end of Daily Savings Time (aka DST) in 2021. While offering an extra hour of snooze time Sunday morning, we do not look forward to darkness at 5:30pm. For us, the change from DST marks the official beginning of winter...no matter what the calendar states as an official date.
So, winter..that 6 letter word that for many of us means more than holiday songs. In our line of work, winter means freezing and the risk associated with this phenomenon to your properties. So, a quick reminder. We are starting winterizations of vacant homes. When people move out we will winterize. We will de-winterize when people are moving in. Yes, it costs a little money (approximately $125 to winterize and $75 to de-winterize) but it is a fraction of what you will incur if the power goes out in your property. If that happens, there is no way to heat. So, only bad things can happen from there. Like the cost of water and mold mitigation after pipes burst. Then the repairs to those burst pipes. Easily $5k and more like $10k!
So celebrate Veterans this week while resting more comfortably that your PM has your investment covered. Like a warm blanket.
Cheers! WILMOTH Team |
