Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
For the first time in 3 years, we do not need to compare our Memorial Day celebrations to life pre-pandemic. In almost all ways, life has returned to 2019-like holiday celebrations! We can travel freely, laugh, join hundreds of thousands at the Indy 500 and even cough from allergies and not scare people!
A small bit of trivia you may not know. The U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs says that Memorial Day is celebrated in late May because that is when flowers will be blooming everywhere across America. In fact, the predecessor to Memorial Day (until 1868) was called Decoration Day. Decoration Day allowed citizens of the USA to decorate the graves of deceased veterans with fresh flowers!
This year, we have much to be thankful for. At 3pm, local time, Monday, please observe the National Moment of Remembrance. At this time we all can remember, for just a moment, those who died while serving in the U.S. military. If not for the freedoms they fought and earned for us, we would all surely have much different lives.
Always Remember!
