Subject: What's new in Havana

fun things to do when you visit

Hola Friend,

how have you been? Yoanis and I have been preparing for 2025, we have some amazing tours coming up - Jazz festival trips in January for a couple of groups, trip to Trinidad in Feb, a diving tour in March, a couple of cultural trips in April and a few others we have been working on... Like that 40th birthday celebration in May! OMG, it was the funnest trip I have ever designed 😍 I wanted to turn 40 again!

We also like to bring you something different, discovering new places and have a new perspective. In May when we had a chance to speak with some of the Magazine editors, we had the questions around fashion and fabric, given Cuba has been the place for some recent fashion shows. We also had the question of culinary tours several times - I really would love to do one that takes you all the way from Havana to Baracoa, so that is a project in progress. We had queries for Afro-Cuban adventures, and sometimes we just want to share with you lesser known facts, like Havana's Mafia History... so we have been working on a few fun day activities around Havana 😃 especially with the many 5 day adventures people are planning.

Do you want to hear about them?

Of course I am going to share... cos I find them exciting!

I have to say, I cannot pick a favourite!

So what are things that we can now offer in Havana?

One of the tours that we have been tuning over time is Havana through the eyes of Hemingway, because I wanted to be able to capture it all, but also in a way that you will remember! I think we have finally met that requirement 😀

So this tour will start you off on the discovery of Old Havana like Hemingway saw it! We start at his first place of residence. His room is still set up as he had it, from here we visit his favourite watering holes... we have to keep hydrated after all! So you get a chance to carve your name on the wall at La Bodeguita, and enjoy your daiquiri in style at La Floridita... before we head to the place him and his Buddies from the mafia hung out - I have to say to me this place is a bit of contradiction... nevertheless an experience! Then we head out to his place at Finca Vigia -this can be a plane visit or a damn right adventure, depending on how the house keeper is feeling 😂 followed by a stop in Cojimar, the fishing village that inspired the book, Old Man and the Sea, where you will have a chance to first hand learn how to master Hemingway's favourite Cocktails. 🍹

My next favourite one is .. I have to say our Mafia Tour.

I am not sure what you have known about the Mafia being in Havana (watch Godfather 2) but it is certainly a fascinating history, one that is not much talked about! But there is so much to learn! So w have created a tour that will show you around.. After all, all the classic cars are due to the fact that Havana was the test ground for them, because of some un said advantages.. So let us take you to Hotel Nacional, where the walls could tell you some fascinating stories.. and you will hear some on your tour here 😀

From here we will go around some of the old time favourites from Hotel New York, Parque de la Fraternidad, old brothels of Paseo del Prado and Casa de Carmen to America Theatre with a stop to Sloppy Joes. Discovering the relationship between the poor neighbourhoods and the Mafia and finishing your trip at Ley Seca - although not a Mafia favoured spot, it certainly feels like it should have been..

And we do not stop here!!! You asked for having a taste test of Cuba and we have one!!!

As a lover of food myself, I have to say... this is may favourite!!

We start out in Playa, Habana visiting El Gelato for breakfast. Not sure if you remember this place but I had it as a must try bakeries in Havana. As the name would suggest they also do gelato, so why not try with brekky??? After all you are on holidays 😆 from here we will go to grab some chocolate - and I am a major fan given that most chocolate is black chocolate in Cuba.

You will be ready to walk some of these calories off, so we will check out Fusterlandia - fascinating art work by Jose Fuster on the whole suburb of Jamaitas.

Then we will head back to San Isidro district to discover some street food, and the history of this district... after all, it did change from a red light district to an art hub! While we are at it we will visi a local market before heading to the brewery for a beer to close the day.

Well if that hasn't caught your attention, we do have a few others on the go! We certainly think that 2025 is going o be an exciting year.. Question is... are you up for a visit to find out?

Let us know!

Hablamos mas tarde,

Orsolya and Yoanis
