Subject: What do you think about the US Elections Friend? 💌 - SimplyCubaTours

Hola Friend,

Well, how is that election result in the US??? I have to say when I saw that it was 'stuck' with both parties well under 270 votes for what seemed like 2 days on my end, I was thinking anything can happen. Right now, I am kind of excited for Bidden (TBH hoping to see some of these recent sanctions reversed!).. but at the same time am not sure what it means that Trump doesn't want to give up his position? I guess this is not quite over yet...

On another note, it is Yoanis' birthday this week! He doesn't know I have just given him away... 😲 I have to tell you a secret, he is the most amazing human being I have met... Even though he has been through the most challenging year of his life - having not worked since March this year (and he loves showing Cuba off to people!), spending countless hours in line to get basics like toothpaste and shampoo, being cut off from electricity at times for 18 hours a day, he will tell you life is great. He will tell you he is grateful. And most of all he will cheer you on with whatever you are doing. 💕 I don't think words can describe my love and admiration of this beautiful man, and I have to say I miss him dearly.

Can I ask you to help me send him some birthday love? I'm sure he is ready for it. 💖

Travel updates!

As Cuba is opening up, the world seems to be shutting back down! Only last weekend we have received the 6000th visitor in Cuba at Jardines del Rey, had hundreds of German travel agents in Cuba to discuss the reopening plans... and in the meantime, both the UK and Germany have gone back into lockdown 😲 And most of Europe also..

Whilst the Cuban Government finally have confirmed that Havana will re-open from 15 November, most of the world has gone back into hiding. I can only hope that the travelers who arrived in Cuba before the changes can get home safely. (I guess just 2 weeks quarantine will apply... haven't heard of further flight cancellations)

News also has it that there will now be a health fee for the mandatory PCRs tests required to enter Cuba. But I haven't yet seen whether this is correct or how much it would be. This fee would step into play on 15 November also. I'll have to let you know what I can find out here.

As for the hand luggage kerfuffle.. well it seems they haven't been banned in the and and are back in!

What else is worth a mention?

Tropical Storm Eta has passed Sancti Spiritus without too much damage thankfully, however its heavy rains are now affecting Pinar del Rio and Artemisa. Let's hope it doesn't turn back with a vengance.

The other good news is that.... You asked and we listened... It's about travel insurance. You asked if we had any? Well us personally, we do not sell it, but we partnered with World Nomand so far. They are a leading provider of travel insurance around the world, unfortunately they currently do not offer insurance to Canadian and US travelers. But for that we are also looking to partner with travelinsurnace.com in the coming week. Which I will share with you once we have it.

Please check that the policy suits your needs. They aren't only a provider for travel to Cuba, but hundreds of countries around the world. So check it out, see if they can help you!

We will have a few more exciting items in the pipeline... like being able to offer you flight options, travel gear and also airport transport in your home country... watch this space! 😉

What's on the blog this week?

We here at Simply Cuba are on a Mission!

Our mission is to provide you with an authentic Cuban experience, immersing you in the culture, the nature the everyday life whilst supporting the local community. Which is why it is an absolute must for us to use casas. Some of you may be new to this and find the option 'icky' and may be even thinking that it is not a nice holiday option...

But really, staying at a casa can give you a more fulfilling option than a hotel ever will! Why? not only do you get to stay with locals, learn about their lives, their stories, get immersed in their environment, you also get to help them make a living and support their family. 🥰

So I wanted to tell you a bit more about casas and the experience you can expect...
