Subject: How did you know?

Friend,

How do you know you are loved? Personally, the acts of love that have moved me most, are the ones that I know have come at a cost. I most poignantly know my husband loves me when he sacrifices to serve me at a cost to himself.

Today is Maundy Thursday. On this day, we remember Jesus sharing his last supper with his innermost community before his crucifixion. It was at this meal where Jesus, in an act of humility, love, and sacrifice, washed each of his followers’ feet. Giving them a new command: “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”

We share many moving stories about the work of Five Talents. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that often the most beautiful thing about these stories are the sacrifices our entrepreneurs must endure to provide for those they love. Christ’s washing of his disciple’s feet is a small foretaste of his sacrificial love. This same remarkable love drove Him to willingly endure the cross. This Easter season, I pray that you are reminded how deeply and thoroughly you are loved by God, and that it came at a great cost to Himself.

Wishing you a joyful Easter!
