Hi Friend,

I hope you're enjoying your weekend and doing well!

You may have noticed that I didn't send an email last week (for the first time ever!). I've decided to switch to bi-weekly messages for now. As we hit the 6-month mark with two young children at home, no babysitters, and now less support from school than we had in the spring, I've decided to scale the cadence back.

I miss my pre-covid productivity and can't wait to share more with this community, but recalibrating for more family time feels right. And as always, my goal is quality content over quantity.

We all have unique situations and circumstances. I'm certain our set-up and decisions would look different if the pandemic occurred a few years ago or a few years later. There's no playbook and no "right" answer here, but we're all adapting! I hope you do what works best for yourself and your family as well.

Without further ado! Here are some resources and recipes for this week:

My Favorite Holistic Health Podcasts

I love podcasts for both education and inspiration. Here's a round-up of my favorite health-focused series. The hosts are extremely knowledgeable and their episodes include interviews with a wide variety of experts.

You can subscribe to stay up-to-date on the latest and greatest, but don't be afraid to search their archives. I often do this based on my current life stage or questions that are on my mind (fertility / pregnancy, household toxins when I've needed to buy furniture, questions about certain food, etc.).

  • Wellness Mama (Katie Wells) - A weekly podcast series covering real food, stress, sleep, fitness, toxins, natural living, and much more to give you actionable steps to improve your family’s health.

  • The Model Health Show (Shawn Stevenson) -  Shawn is a nutritionist, fitness expert, and bestselling author. He interviews world-renowned experts on the topics of health, fitness, nutrition, personal development, and more. His aim is to share education and insights to help you live your best life ever.

  • The Doctor's Farmacy (Dr. Mark Hyman) - This podcast is a place for deep conversations about the critical issues of our time in the space of health, wellness, food and politics. This is a great resource for anyone interested in Functional Medicine.

  • The Genius Life (Max Lugavere) - Max is a health and science journalist, New York Times bestselling author, TV personality and nutrition expert. On the podcast, he speaks to world-renowned experts about what it means to live like a Genius.

Food Tip

Chopped broccoli

Chop broccoli and let it rest 40- 90 mins before cooking to greatly increase disease-fighting nutrients. Check out my post with some additional info. You can also learn more in this Newsweek write-up.

Recipes

Kale with raisins and almonds

This easy kale side with raisins, almonds and a balsamic drizzle comes together quickly and would be so nice with a fall meal.

You can see the recipe here. It's been really popular! Check out the comments - a few people were kind enough to drop a note after making it! So glad it's been a hit, and thank you as always for sharing comments and feedback!

Hummus and veggie platter

Have you ever made your own hummus? It's simple, adaptable, and healthier than most options that are available to buy.

My recipe is included in this post, and here's a link to the blog post I referenced: What's the Problem with Vegetable Oils.

As always, thank you so much for reading! Wishing you a safe and healthy week ahead.

Be Well,
