LAST SUNDAY AT THE CHAPEL

YES! YES! YES! Another beautiful day at Wayfarers - sunny skies and cool temps for our Founders Day celebration. And beauty still abounds on the grounds of Wayfarers.

After announcements and a meditation led by Anne Kirslis, Ruth Henry took us on a musical journey from "Moments" - a gentle celebration of living in and appreciating the now - to an acapella bluesy, soulful then totally hopping version of "I'll Fly Away", to an instant meditation thru her qilaut (her Inuit wind drum), and ending with a whistling piece going straight to the soul.

Joyce Oliver led us in celebration of this beautiful chapel we call home with stories of how it was envisioned by Rose-Mary Hatfield, brought into existence by Rose-Mary Hatfield and Ron Lindahn, and nurtured and expanded thru the years by the many who have called this space home. We each brought home with us the names of members thru the years to bless, honor, thank, and celebrate their contributions to this beautiful chapel in the woods.

Teresa Weiser, one of the earliest members, also shared some of her memories of the chapel, it's family, and it's growth as well as some of her favorite memories of the "small but mighty" Rose-Mary Hatfield. One of her favorite memories was Rose-Mary once telling her "Christ never meant for us to be spiritual wimps".

The music and talk will be available on the website soon.

In her talk "But I Say to You", Dr. Katie Davis explores interpreting ancient texts as a process for applying the wisdom found there to our contemporary lives. We will look at a particular Christian text, Romans 1, as an example.

Marie Dunkle and Katharine Brown will provide music.

If you plan to attend, please be sure to RSVP by clicking the link below and providing the names and number of people in your party and whether you will be sitting together or separately. Click HERE to RSVP this Sunday service.

QIGONG ON THE DECK

Experience the joyful flow of energetic well-being immersed in nature through the simple, easy meditative movements of Qigong standing or sitting -- a life-enhancing practice for everyone. Smiling guaranteed.

Kathleen Rehling will facilitate Qigong on the deck each WEDNESDAY morning from 10:30-11:30 from September 23 through October 28. Rain cancels. Social distancing observed. Event is by donation. You may contact Kathleen at (912) 222-3996.

DEATH CAFE RETURNS OCTOBER 11th

Do you like to talk? Discuss? Do you like to plan for things? Then consider joining Jan Brewer October 11th from 2-4 pm on the deck of the chapel to talk about/plan for death. After all, we plan for and talk about births, graduations, weddings, homeownership, etc. Why not talk about/plan for death?

Death Cafe is an international movement in which people typically meet, drink tea, eat cake, and discuss death with only one agenda: Be an open and straightforward discussion space to talk about death with no intention to any conclusion, product, or course of action. Due to the need to wear masks in gatherings at this time, food and drink will not be served.

For more information please see www.deathcafe.com or contact Jan Brewer at 510.684.5555.

This outside event will be canceled if it rains. RSVPs are not required, however, if you wish to be notified of cancellation due to weather, please text your RSVP to Jan at 510.684.5555.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

from Wayfarers Unity Founders

Let peace so fill my heart and soul

that peace is felt

in every place I go.

Let gentle kindness reign.

Let sharing be an avenue of grace.

Let peace infill the race

and earth become a loving space

where God is known

and all are one.

Let this be so.

                      -- Rose-Mary Hatfield

We are truly blessed ALL of the time and it is such a delight when we can raise our heads from the drama to notice it.

We are all God's children and he wants us to be happy.
