Subject: Wayfarers ❤️ Newsletter September 13-19, 2021

September 13-19, 2021

It was a full and wonderful week at Wayfarers.

Yoga on Wednesday was a treat for all.

Then on Saturday, we enjoyed an AMAZING concert with Acoustic Eidolon. Can't wait 'til they come back again!

Sunday, Crowe Capps shared his newest music and Rev. Dr. Kate Greysen shared her thoughts on "Reflections on Change: What Does It Mean to Be Resilient in Trying Times. In some ways, similar, but really not!" When you get right down to it - it takes Courage. Kate's talk will be available online later this week.

EVENTS THIS WEEK

WEDNESDAY: YOGA ON THE DECK at 5:15 PM

Join us for Yoga on the Deck with instructor Dana Thiele this Wednesday at 5:15 PM. Bring a mat, block, and strap if you have them - maybe a blanket a little extra padding. Class is suitable for everyone from beginners to regular practitioners. Class is free - Love Offerings Accepted.

SATURDAY: OPELSKE at 9:30 AM

The Opelske Team will meet Saturday 9/18 from 9:30-Nooon to tend to the grounds and get things looking lovely for our Sunday Morning Service and our afternoon Concert on the Deck with Sweet Charity. If you enjoy the great outdoors and can offer an hour or two of service, please come and lend a hand. Please note, sometimes the forecast looks like rain on Saturday and the date/time may need to be changed, so we recommend you let Sandy [(407) 786-4364] or Joyce [(828) 200-9160] know you are coming so they can notify you of any changes.

SUNDAY MORNING: SERVICE at 10 AM

Lisa and Filmer Kilby join us with their great guitars, vocal harmonies, and Filmer's ever ready harmonica. Our speaker, Lisa Ezzard, addresses "The Hundred-Foot Drop From the Head to the Heart".

Reminders for All Indoor Gatherings at Wayfarers

Masks are required indoors.

Masks and Hand Sanitizer are available by entry doors.

Please keep access to front and back doorways clear. The back deck is a great place to hang out or visit with friends.

Single and Double Seating are spaced 3' apart.

If you prefer 6' spacing, please contact info@wayfarersunity.org prior to arrival.

Please note, speakers and singers will not be wearing masks during their talks and performances. If you have concerns about potential exposure, please feel free to take one of the seats farther back in the chapel or enjoy the talks on-line.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON:

CONCERT ON THE DECK with SWEET CHARITY at 2 PM

Yes, it is time for another wonderful Concert on the Deck. Our music this month is provided by local favorite Sweet Charity. Their "top 10" Rock 'n Roll classics of the '60s and '70s will definitely help you "get your happy on". So grab your folding chair and favorite beverage and join us on the deck at 2 pm. The concert is FREE to one and all, but if you are so inclined, a donation of $5 for the musicians is welcomed.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

Excerpts from Kate's 9/12 talk . . .

Becoming more courageous in everyday life allows us to show up in the world differently - to live a life that feels more meaningful and fulfilling.

15 Ways to Live a More Courageous Everyday Life

  1. Live true to yourself - even if that means standing alone.

  2. Self-determine - even if it means disappointing others.

  3. Define and assert your boundaries.

  4. Advocate for others.

  5. Advocate for yourself.

  6. Take ownership of your life - recognize that you have the power to change your own personal narrative.

  7. Be explicit in your values - be a voice for good.

  8. Be vulnerable.

  9. Walk away from people who no longer serve you.

  10. Accept constructive criticism with grace - look inward and confront your own imperfections.

  11. Recognize when you are operating from ego.

  12. Do not let your past define you - define and re-define yourself instead of letting the world do it for you.

  13. Have difficult conversations - share, but more importantly, to listen.

  14. Approach life with humility, and always be ready to learn, unlearn, and re-learn.

  15. Challenge your own beliefs and have the willingness to rely on your inner compass to ground you and guide you with the faith that it will always show you the way back home - back to you.
