| LAST WEEK AT THE CHAPEL With All Saints Day only a week away, the focus of Randy Doster's message this week was honoring those who have gone before us. Mark Stein's meditation further connected us to those same people. And Ruth Henry was truly in the flow with her guitar, voice, whistling, and a perfect selection of songs to complement the message and meditation. | | | SUNDAY SERVICE - NOVEMBER 1st All right, friends, it is that time of year. Be sure to roll your clock BACK 1 hour Saturday night before you go to bed (2 AM becomes 1 AM). In case you forget, may you enjoy the extra hour of meditation at the chapel before services begin. Tom Tyre is our Speaker and Musician this Sunday. Tom will talk with us about El Dia de Los Muertos - a holiday originating in Mexico that is now celebrated around the world. It is a family celebration and dinner with deceased relatives. Tom will mix in lots of music with his talk. Marie Dunkle will be our host. Remember ... Services are now indoors. RSVPs still required. Bring a coat, scarf, or shawl as fans will be blowing and doors will be open unless it is extremely cold outside or rain is blowing in. We have maxed out the seating for the chapel so there is virtually no wiggle room so please leave chairs in place so that we can continue to ensure 6' separation for members of different households. Please enter thru front door and exit thru deck doors. Tempting though it may be, try not to congregate near the doors. Please continue to observe 6' spacing and the wearing of face masks. Hand sanitizer and masks are available at the front door. RSVP HERE with the names of those requesting attendance and whether they are sitting solo or together. | ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING The Annual Membership Meeting will be held November 8th at the chapel immediately following the morning service. The meeting will review the highlights and activities of the last year, plans for the future, and our current financial status. The four new members of the Board of Directors will also be introduced and affirmed during the meeting. | IMPORTANT BOARD ELECTION UPDATE Looking for that electronic ballot you've been hearing/reading about? You are in the right place. Please read thru to the end. Traditionally the newest Board members are elected or affirmed at the Annual Membership Meeting in November. This year, thanks to COVID limiting the number of members who can be present at the chapel at one time, we took a bold leap and came up with an Electronic Ballot option so that all members could safely participate in the process and make their choices known. The Board announced it's nominations for 4 new members to fill the openings being vacated by Marie Dunkle, Mereta Alspaugh, Anne Krislis, and Chris Casses. These nominees were announced during Sunday Services, in the Newsletter, and on the website. Members were also given the opportunity to nominate persons for the Board positions. No new nominations were received. And unless there are more nominees than positions, the Bylaws of the chapel instruct the Board of Directors to "appoint" new Directors to the open positions (i.e. no election required). As it turns out, electronic voting was also a bit more complicated than expected. So, while we would have loved to put a ballot in everyone's hands, since there are 4 positions and only 4 nominees, in keeping with the bylaws, the current Board of Directors hereby appoints Barbara Beckham, David Stearns, Sandy Thomas, and Teresa Weiser to the Board of Directors effective November 8, 2020. In case you haven't had to opportunity to meet them, the new Board members will be introduced and you will have the opportunity to affirm them at the Annual Board Meeting November 8th. If you are unable to attend the Annual Meeting and would like to send a note of affirmation for these newest Board members, please send affirmation to info@wayfarersunity.org. | HEAL OUR NATION MEDITATION Our friends Rev. Randy Doster and Rev. Mark Stein from The Mediation Center in Sylva, NC are holding a "Heal Our Nation Meditation" on November 3rd at 7 pm EST. The meditation is focused on re-establishing an energy of kindness, compassion, concern, and oneness for each other and our nation, regardless of our personal philosophies. Information, registration, and donation links for this Zoom Meditation can be found HERE. | SPECIAL PRAYER REQUEST Many of you know Mimi (Nash) Phillips from the Chapel and her years of issuing the chapel newsletter. Mimi will undergo open-heart surgery November 13th to address a serious health issue. Please hold her in light and love in the coming weeks, seeing the healing beginning now, the surgery successful, and her recovery complete. | PRAYER GROUP The Wayfarers Prayer Group is available to hold you, a friend, or loved one in affirmative prayer in time of need. If you wish to receive prayerful support, please contact Anne Krislis at (404) 510-2670 or adeeney424@aol.com | | | THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK On the day I die, when I'm being carried toward the grave, don't weep. Don't say "He's gone! He's gone." Death has nothing to do with going away. The sun sets and the moon sets, they're not gone. Death is a coming together. The tomb looks like a prison, but it's really release into union. The human seed goes down in the ground like a bucket into the well where Joseph is. It grows and comes up full of some unimagined beauty. Your mouth closes here and immediately opens with a shout of joy there. From "ON THE DAY I DIE" by Rumi |
