DEATH CAFE - APRIL 10th  - 2 PM

Death Cafe is a global movement started in the UK whose only objective is: "To increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their finite lives."

Join Jan Brewer, M.A., CMT, in the welcoming space of Wayfarers Chapel for a group-directed conversation about death and dying / life and living. Come talk about all things death-related with others wanting to join the discussion. Share your fears, tears, laughter, curiosity, creativity, stories, or just lend an open ear in this safe, relaxed, and supportive setting.

For further information, please contact Jan at (510) 684-5555 or visit www.deathcafe.com.

CHAPEL PROJECTS

At the Annual Meeting in November, the Board announced plans to address multiple projects to maintain and improve the chapels and grounds, and we are delighted that work is now underway. The following maintenance and safety issues have been completed in the last two weeks.

  • The deck has been bleached and pressure washed to eliminate the slip hazard and damaged boards have been replaced. (The deck will be restained after the new wood has a chance to cure.)

  • In RoseMary's Chapel, the bathroom window has been repaired, a new gutter installed, and the decking replaced on the entry.

  • The loose handrail leading to the meditation garden has been secured

  • A new, additional permanent stair leading from the lower parking area to the deck has been installed.

  • A dead tree removed.

This week, work is underway to repair the damaged insulation under the chapel and install wire mesh to keep critters out in the future. And soon we will see sparkling clean windows and additional repairs to RoseMary's Chapel.
