VPOST has Two New Exciting Web-Based Projects Launching
The first project, The Virginia Partnership for Out-of-School Time Collaborative Learning Environment, is an interactive online course catalog created specifically to fill the need for professional development for Out-of-School Time programs in Virginia! Get access to over 72 hours of skill-building courseware on a range of topics including, Creating a Quality Summer Program, Going Deeper: Supporting Social-Emotional Learning and Character Development, The Role of Staff in Behavior Guidance and much more! The flexibility of the Collaborative Learning Environment allows members to work from anywhere with a Wi-Fi connection and to start and stop courses, fitting in with a fast-paced home or work setting. Courses can be set up for both individuals and teams, reports on member activity and certificates, that are awarded upon completion, provides the customization to suit various PD requirements. To sign up or learn more head to https://collabornation.net/login/
  
 Currently under development is the Virginia Out-of-School Time Resource Exchange, a resource website for Out-of-School Time (OST) Providers across the Commonwealth. This site will allow providers to not only receive knowledge and tools to enhance OST programming but also to share that expertise. Here at VPOST, we believe those on the ground, in our field, are the experts. Therefore, we are calling upon all OST providers to send us your resources. Currently, we are looking for your tools, such as lesson plans, data management systems and outreach materials that provide professional education in various aspects of running an OST program. Those materials will be incorporated in the content of the resource site and shared with your professional peers. Specifically, we are looking for samples and templates of the following materials:
  • Activity pre/post tests
  • Behavior management tools
  • Brochures
  • Calendars and Schedules
  • Field trip permission forms
  • Flyers
  • In-kind donation forms
  • In-Kind solicitation letter/form
  • Interview questions (paid and volunteer)
  • Job Descriptions (paid and volunteer)

By sending materials you are giving permission to share and have materials altered. All materials should protect youth confidentiality with names removed from or aliases assigned. The Marathon Kids Running Club Grant application is now open. OST sites throughout your state can apply for funding to bring Marathon Kids to their afterschool, community or summer program TODAY

Hello!
Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. Gang are on a mission to get kids, parents and Scooby fans to make meaningful changes in their communities. Join Scooby-Doo and his friends to #DooGood and make a difference today!
With the generous support of Warner Bros., generationOn is excited to provide $500 grants for kids around the country to doo more good. Grantees will be asked to create two service projects addressing the issue of either the environment, hunger or animal welfare.
The deadline to apply is Monday, February 12, 2018.

Student Video Contest
  • We now live in a world of over 7 billion people and demographers expect us to reach 9 billion by mid-century.
  • Human population growth exacerbates many of the innumerable challenges facing our global society.
  • Taking on these complex challenges and finding solutions will require understanding, cooperation, and creativity.
Create a short video – up to 60 seconds – about human population growth that highlights one of the following global challenges: Advancing Women and Girls, Feeding 10 Billion, or Preventing Pollution. All videos must include:
a) how population growth impacts the issue
b) at least one idea for a sustainable solution.
Consider narrowing your focus by concentrating on a subtheme within your topic. Possible subthemes include:
  • Advancing Women and Girls  -access to education, gender equality, women in government, women’s health, child marriage
  • Feeding 10 Billion  -hunger, food waste, resource, and energy use, deforestation, pollution
  • Preventing Pollution  -impacts on air, water, and land, climate change, human and wildlife health, ecosystem destruction
Deadline for submissions is  February 22, 2018.

The focus of Y4Y is on learning and professional development for every staff member at every level of 21st CCLC programs.
The Y4Y technical assistance (TA) Team can provide targeted on-site and virtual TA training to 21st CCLC programs in all states and territories, free of charge. Our TA covers all courses topics offered on Y4Y and more. For more about the topics and information on how to request training, please visit our TA page.
The Y4Y TA Team also has free virtual Showcases throughout the year on important and interesting topics relevant to 21st CCLC programs. The Showcases are broadcasted on the Y4Y site with free registration for all Y4Y users. The Y4Y portal is filled with free resources for all of your 21st CCLC program needs. From checklists for supervisors and principals to STEM activity guides, it’s all there at your fingertips to help you reach your program and site goals. You will find resources that are featured in each course, as well as external links to lesson plans and research-based resources.

Youth.Gov is a U.S. government website that gives helpful facts about youth transitioning to adulthood. The site also provides funding information, government resources, evidenced-based programs, youth-related news and much more.

Encourages talented STEM majors and professionals to become K-12 Math and Science teachers. in high-need local educational agencies. Opportunities include Teacher Scholarships and Stipends, Teaching Fellowships, NSF Master Teaching Fellowships, and Research. Capacity Building proposals are also welcomed.
