Don’t just watch youth activism from the sidelines. Encourage a young person to be a VPOST Youth Ambassador. Every major issue that makes headlines starts with unaddressed and unnoticed issues that have existed under the radar for an extended period of time. And guess what? Ensuring that all young people have a safe environment where they can engage in quality activities that holistically support their development in afterschool so that their parents can work in peace is one of those issues. It is a topic that impacts and is connected to some of the more mainstream issues that make headlines daily.
Currently, VPOST is looking to expand our youth ambassador service opportunity to youth throughout the Commonwealth so together we can make America better for all young people. VPOST youth ambassadors advocate at the local, state, and national levels to increase support for quality afterschool programs and resources. If you know a middle or high schooler who is interested in public policy or youth issues, please encourage them to apply. Applications can be completed online at http://bit.ly/YAapplication or on paper. Application deadline is June 1, 2018. Have questions? Contact Joy Jackson at joy.jackson@v-post.org 757-838-2330.
