Daryle Rodgers, VPOST Leadership Council Member, Accepted to Afterschool Alliance Ambassadors Program

Congratulations Daryle! Mr. Rodgers, VPOST Leadership Council Member and Coordinator of Out-of-School Time & Extended Learning Programs for Hampton City Schools has recently been added to the newest co-hort of the Afterschool Alliance's Afterschool Ambassadors. The program identifies afterschool providers and advocates of special achievement and helps them raise their voices in support of afterschool. The Alliance selects 12 to 20 Ambassadors from some of most effective afterschool programs and advocacy organizations in the nation each year.

Celebrate 20 Years of  Lights On Afterschool! October 24, 2019

Join more than 8,000 communities and 1 million Americans in celebrating afterschool programs for this year's Lights On Afterschool! This nationwide event, organized by the Afterschool Alliance, calls attention to the importance of afterschool programs and the resources required to keep the lights on and the doors open. 

While supplies last, KIND is donating 150 free KIND Simple Crunch and KIND Kids snacks to registered programs for Lights On Afterschool events!

An Army Educational Outreach Program, eCYBERMISSION (eCM) is a free web-based STEM competition for students in grades 6-9.
 
Students are challenged to explore how STEM works in their world while working as a team to solve problems in their community. Teams compete virtually in state and regional competitions and in-person through the National Judging & Educational Event (NJ&EE). Student prizes are awarded at the state, regional and national levels, by grade level.
 
The program is committed to answering the nation's need for increased national STEM literacy and to expanding STEM education opportunities across the country to open doors to new career paths for American students that lead to a brighter tomorrow.

eCM is looking for educators, community leaders, parents and professionals interested in STEM to create teams of students. Registration is open now!

Register and complete your teams by November 20th and your students will receive a free STEM Kit.

The Virginia State Park Bay Experience Unit 
 
The Virginia State Park Bay Experience Unit (BEU) is a new program provided by state park interpretive staff. The BEU provides in-school programming, in park bay experiences and locally focused conservation activities. Programming can be tailored to fit your students needs based on grade level, local bay resources, and subject matter. Some of the programming available includes: 

SOL based programs 
Kayaking
Water Testing 
Archery 
Chesapeake Bay Wildlife 
Virginia Bay History

Join students and educators across the country by partnering with Girls Who Code to bring computer science opportunities to elementary, middle, and high school girls in your community! Girls Who Code Clubs are FREE after-school programs for 3rd-5th or 6th-12th grade girls to join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models and use computer science to change the world. Applications for Virginia's Agriculture in the Classroom's school grant program are open. Grants of up to $500 are offered to schools and organizations in two categories - Garden Grants and Agricultural Experience Grants.  More information as well as applications are available here.  Applications are due by September 16.
If you’re eager to establish a digital learning center, IGT is interested in helping your program thrive! IGT requests applications for its After School Advantage (ASA) Program. The program seeks to close the digital divide for disadvantaged children who get left behind because they do not have the means to access computers in today's increasingly digital society.

The Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship encourages talented STEM majors and professionals to become K-12 Math and Science teachers. in high-need local educational agencies.
