Subject: VPOST Conference RFP and more in your August 2020 VPOST News.

Request for Proposals due this Friday!

Mark your calendars for VPOST's first-ever virtual conference, which will be held October 13-15, 2020. This year’s conference theme, “Road Map to Resiliency in Out-of-School Time”, was born from the context of 2020. In such extraordinary times, the need for the out-of-school-time community to come together and be guided by leaders in the field is crucial to serving the young people of Virginia. VPOST is looking for those that have expert insights, proven strategies, inspiration, and innovations in the field to meet this challenge! Proposals are due this Friday, August 14. Don't miss this opportunity!

Last week the Afterschool Alliance and the Bipartisan Policy Center along with a host of other organizations, including VPOST, called on Congress to include at least $6.2 billion in 21st Century Community Learning Center afterschool program support in the upcoming COVID relief package being negotiated now in Congress. A supplemental appropriation as part of the next COVID-19 relief bill with at least $6.2 billion in emergency federal funding would allow state education agencies, like the Virginia Department of Education, to fund partnerships between local educational agencies and community-based organizations in order to provide safe out-of-school programming. Check out Afterschool Alliance's action alert tool for a template and be sure to add your own experiences!
