Subject: Thank You for an Amazing Lights on Afterschool 2021!

Virginia's Light Shines Bright on Lights on Afterschool!

One of the best things about Lights on Afterschool, are the multitude of ways to shine the light on afterschool. In Harrisonburg, the town literally lit up for afterschool by illuminating several of the city landmarks in blue. The lights were in conjunction with the 3rd annual Mayor's Lights on Afterschool Roundtable, hosted by afterschool advocate and Harrisonburg Mayor, Deanna Reed. VPOST leadership participated in the discussion along with Delegate Delores McQuinn, and many more!

Staff appreciation is another way people all across the nation celebrated and VPOST showed love to afterschool educators with lightbulb vase filled goodies in Henrico.

In Newport News students celebrated with fun activities in their afterschool programs in Deer Park Elementary School and Crittenden Middle School.

In fact, even our own Governor Ralph Northam recognized the significance of the day by officially proclaiming October 28, 2021 Lights on Afterschool in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

And the festivities continue! Join us for a special Q&A with NASA Deputy Administrator & Astronaut Pam Melroy Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. ET. Students & programs can submit questions for Melroy to answer live during the event! Next up is a webinar on building youth-led activities with The Institute for Citizens & Scholars and the Kentucky Student Voice Team.

THANK YOU VIRGINIA FOR SHINING BRIGHT!
