Subject: 💡Less than one week till Lights on Afterschool!

We're less than a week away from Lights On Afterschool! If you haven't planned an event but want to participate there are tons of way to celebrate!

Easy Social Media to Participation in Lights on Afterschool

Join the Lights On Afterschool Lightbulb Challenge! Participation is simple:

  1. Take a photo of yourself, students in your program, or even teachers and parents mimicking our Lights On Afterschool logo.

  2. Post your photos to social media with the hashtags #LightbulbChallenge and #LightsOnAfterschool.

  3. Challenge your followers to do the same! Tag the programs and people you’d like to see participate in the #LightbulbChallenge.

Add a bit of flair to the #LightbulbChallenge by adding Lights On Afterschool Instagram filters to your photos! Open this email on a mobile device and click any of the links below. They’ll automatically open in Instagram.

  1. LOA Bubbles

  2. LOA Sunglasses

  3. LOA Lightbulb

Save your photos and videos featuring the filters to your phone, and share them on Twitter and Facebook. Don’t forget the hashtags!

New This Year-Staff Recognition!

Tell the world why you love your afterschool staff or why you’re keeping the Lights On Afterschool. It’s easy:

  1. Print the template, fill it out (or pass along to parents and students to do so!)

  2. Snap a photo of the finished product, or a selfie of you and your message.

  3. Upload it to your favorite social media sites with the hashtag #LightsOnAfterschool and tag @afterschool4all. You can also share an afterschool message of your own using the hashtag.

And you’re done! Follow the hashtag to see how other afterschool programs are celebrating.

Attend an Online Event

  • On Thurs, Oct 28, hear the U.S. Secretary of Education and youth leaders from around the country talk about afterschool programs. Invite your students to engage in the chat, and discuss their views and takeaways after the event.

  • On Friday, Nov 8, all ages are invited to send questions and join a Q&A with NASA’s second in command and former astronaut Pam Melroy.
