Military children live with on-going challenges presented by frequent moves, family separations, and life transitions. They move 6-9 times during their K-12 years. The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is seeking unsealed qualifications from vendors that meet the Contractor Qualifications as listed below.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

In accordance with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Title IV, Part B, 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC), the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is required to provide a list of prescreened external organizations. The term "external organization" is defined, by ESSA, as: ''(A) a nonprofit organization with a record of success in running or working with before- and after- school (or summer recess) programs and activities; or (B) in the case of a community where there is no such organization, a nonprofit organization in the community that enters into a written agreement or partnership with an organization described in subparagraph (A) to receive mentoring and guidance in running or working with before- and after-school (or summer recess) programs and activities" (ESSA, section 4201). VPOST is the state affiliate of the National Afterschool Association (NAA). NAA Ambassador Membership is complimentary. The National Summer Learning Association's (NSLA) Summer Changes Everything™ conference on summer learning and afterschool will be held in Kansas City, Missouri from November 12-14, 2018.
The focus of Y4Y is on learning and professional development for every staff member at every level of 21st CCLC programs.
The Y4Y technical assistance (TA) Team can provide targeted on-site and virtual TA training to 21st CCLC programs in all states and territories, free of charge. Our TA covers all courses topics offered on Y4Y and more. For more about the topics and information on how to request training, please visit our TA page.
The Y4Y TA Team also has free virtual Showcases throughout the year on important and interesting topics relevant to 21st CCLC programs. The Showcases are broadcasted on the Y4Y site with free registration for all Y4Y users. The Y4Y portal is filled with free resources for all of your 21st CCLC program needs. From checklists for supervisors and principals to STEM activity guides, it’s all there at your fingertips to help you reach your program and site goals. You will find resources that are featured in each course, as well as external links to lesson plans and research-based resources.
You can also explore a list of external drug and alcohol prevention resources and conference materials where Y4Y sessions have been held.
 Click2Science is an interactive, professional development site for trainers, coaches, site directors and frontline staff/volunteers working in out-of-school time STEM programs, serving children and youth.

Looking for resources on how to run a high-quality program? SEDL, an affiliate of the American Institutes for Research, has no-cost resources on lesson plans, practitioners' guides, and training toolkits. Visit the National Center for Quality Afterschool here .
Youth.Gov is a U.S. government website that gives helpful facts about youth transitioning to adulthood. The site also provides funding information, government resources, evidenced-based programs, youth-related news and much more.

Encourages talented STEM majors and professionals to become K-12 Math and Science teachers. in high-need local educational agencies. Opportunities include Teacher Scholarships and Stipends, Teaching Fellowships, NSF Master Teaching Fellowships, and Research. Capacity Building proposals are also welcomed.
