Subject: Announcing Virginia's NAA Next Gen Leader!

The National AfterSchool Association (NAA), is a voice of the afterschool profession that works for the advancement of afterschool professionals. They have selected Rebekah Stone, Therapeutic Recreation Branch Manager of Fairfax, VA., as one of NAA’s 2023 Next Generation of Afterschool Leaders.

In selecting it's 2023 Next Generation of Afterschool Leaders, the National AfterSchool Association sought to highlight emerging young leaders who are active in the broader afterschool community, demonstrate contributions that have started to influence beyond individual programs to entire organizations and communities, are actively engaged in efforts to elevate the afterschool field, have a proven passion for the development of themselves and others, and demonstrate persistence in their work to grow as leaders.

Bekah has exemplified this leadership and made it her mission to ensure youth, teens, and young adults of all abilities are able to develop the skills that enable them to participate in the recreation, leisure, or out-of-school time programs of their choice.

Bekah's understanding that it takes a team to achieve desired outcomes is what pushes her to ensure that those around her have the tools and knowledge needed to deliver services in an equitable and inclusive manner, with a focus on creating welcoming environments.

While simultaneously managing staff and leading county-wide trainings, Bekah has also taken on the task of supporting VPOST in the planning of our annual state-wide conference that will take place in the spring. Bekah has truly embraced a culture of learning, not only for her own career, but in support of others as well.

Bekah and her fellow honorees will be profiled in the Spring 2023 issue of NAA’s AfterSchool Today magazine. View a digital edition of the magazine here after March 8, 2023.

Congratulations Bekah!
