In silico medicine wouldn't be possible without many supporting technologies. The fourth video of the series Code & Cure will present how medical imaging, supercomputers, and virtual and augmented reality (AR/VR) contribute to it.
POLICY NEWS
On 8 July 2024, the Medical Device Coordination Group (MDCG) issued an updated guidance to help manufacturers, notified bodies and health institutions classify in vitro diagnostic (IVD) devices before they are placed on the market under the In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVDR).
The Commission published the second report on the State of the Digital Decade, providing a comprehensive overview of the progress made in the quest to achieve the digital objectives and targets set for 2030 by the Digital Decade Policy Programme (DDPP).
Member States agree to launch AI Factories under the EuroHPC JU with a rolling call for proposals coming soon.
VPH COMMUNITY
Clinicians face critical decisions daily, often under pressure. Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) integrate patient data with medical knowledge, offering evidence-based recommendations to improve care quality and efficiency. At Mayo Clinic, CDSS, including AI for lung cancer diagnosis, enhances treatment plans, reduces unnecessary procedures, and allows doctors more time with patients.
The second EDITH Ecosystem Meeting in Amsterdam brought together the outcomes of extensive discussions, public consultations, and expert contributions on the VHT Roadmap. The whole community is thriving and fully engaged in realizing the VHT for better health and care for all citizens in Europe and beyond.
At the end of the final EDITH Ecosystem Meeting, a public event was organised by VPHi and the Universiteit of Amsterdam to involve and engage the wider community in shaping the future of healthcare


ENGINEERS APOLLO 13

The first real world use of a digital twin came with a bang, literally. Followed by the sentence “Houston, we’ve had a problem”. This is the extraordinary story of how NASA engineers converted simulators into digital twins to bring the astronauts of the Apollo 13 back home.

At PariSante Campus, France, on 30 and 31 May 2024, SimCardioTest  officially presented the in-silico trials platform that allows to verify and validate new designs of pacing leads/devices as well as new designs of left Atrial Appendage Occluders (LAAO) and the interaction of drugs with the heart in terms of efficacy and safety.
SIMCor published its final video, which provides an overview of the research activity conducted in the project and its final results, narrated by the researchers of the consortium through a series of interview clips.
