Dear VPH Friends, this summer has been very intense for the Institute. In July, in connection to IUPS 2013, we held the annual General Assembly, during which few important decisions were taken. Among the others, a new membership model was approved, which gives new opportunities to anyone interested to join in, such as personal and student fee and VPH conference discounts. The GA saw the election and the official presentation of the new members of the governing bodies of the Institute: the Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors, of which you can find all the details below. IUPS 2013 also offered the perfect scenario to important scientific discussions on the development of a multi-scale system biology, which took place with representatives of all domains involved. In particular for the first time in Chicheley Hall, scientists working on all aspects of systems biology came together to develop a common roadmap on this topic. A small group is now working on the official statement to summarize the outcome of the discussions. We will surely keep you posted on the future developments! With this newsletter, we are also happy to announce the opening of the call for bid for VPH 2016: the International Conference on the Virtual Physiological Human is a conference series held biennially on even years, whose objective is to provide a forum for the discussion and the dissemination of the broad field of in silico medicine. Institutions that are interested to host the event shall apply to the call by Jan 15th, 2014. We wish you all a fresh start after the summer! Best regards, VPH team

|
| Board of Trustees (BoT) The BoT supervises the operations of the BoD, ensuring they do not get into conflict with the interests of the membership and do not violate the legal provisions.
