POLICY NEWS
On 21 May 2024, the Council approved the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act). The AI legislation follows a ‘risk-based’ approach, with stricter rules for higher-risk applications. It aims to foster safe, trustworthy AI in the EU, respect fundamental rights and support research.
The leaked draft conclusions emphasise strengthening the European Health Union by addressing priority healthcare needs, enhancing healthcare innovation, improving workforce strategies, and leveraging digital technologies and data for better healthcare outcomes.
On 18 June 2024, the Hungarian Presidency unveiled its programme under the slogan "Make Europe Great Again" outlining its priorities.
VPH COMMUNITY
A French multidisciplinary team developed a digital twin model of blood circulation, predicting liver failure risks with personalised pre-operative insights. Tested on 47 patients, the model accurately matched real blood pressure data, offering surgeons a vital tool to improve outcomes and avoid risky surgeries.

CELEBRATING PETER HUNTER

Peter Hunter is a world leader in computer modelling of the human physiome. His research work focused on modelling many aspects of the human body. 
Among his many achievements, he is known to be the father of the International Physiome Project, but he also contributed to the creation of the VPHi as a founding member to then serve as a president for multiple mandates.
The Health Technology Assessment International (HTAi) Annual Meeting is a key international gathering of many stakeholders: researchers, government agencies, policymakers, industry, academia, health service providers, health economists, and patients. The meeting's goal is to share information and best practices on cutting-edge technologies and system development, with a focus on their impact on patient care.
