George S. Redd, IV - Taking Action, Getting Results Vote Redd for City Council East Ward
|
|
George
Redd, IV is a lifelong resident of Winston-Salem and has deeply rooted
lineage in the city where he currently seeks the East Ward City Council
seat in 2020. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Redd, III along with
his deceased maternal and paternal grandparents taught him the value of
hard work and community service. George understood from an early age
the importance of giving back to the community and being a voice for the
voiceless.
George earned a BA from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA
and returned home where he secured employment in case management
serving the economically disadvantaged citizens of this community with
many issues over many years. He would later pursue and gain employment
with Habitat for Humanity where he is the Director of Program
Services. This unique opportunity places him in the perfect capacity
to oversee positioning families for home ownership and directing many
other programs focused on youth achievement.
From his early years, George watched his now retired parents work
long hours, His dad was employed for over forty years in the
automobile industry working with Bob Neil Mercedes Benz, Modern Toyota,
and Flow Honda. His mother spent 27 years at R. J. Reynolds Tobacco
Company in Research & Development in various positions and Information
Resources as an IT Research Analyst before joining the the
Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and retiring as Executive Assistant
to the Superintendent. "I was taught to work hard, be fair and
to respect everyone."
My family and I have strong work ethics in our city, our community, and the
East Ward where we still reside. I have a deep understanding of
the community that I was raised in and a great appreciation for
the residents of this community. My grandfather, the late George
Redd, Jr. was one of the first African American Police hired by the WSPD.
My grandmother, the late Ann Martin Hanes was one of the first African American
women hired as a supervisor at R. J. Reynolds Company. My family not only
told me how to handle myself in life, they each showed me by the examples they
set before me.
If
you will allow me to represent you as your East Ward council member, I will
work diligently to represent your interests and dedicate my time to
understanding the needs that are most important to each of you. I want all of
us to be proud to call the East Ward home and to give fair representation to
our citizens in matters concerning our immediate and greater community.
I am married to the former Vanessa Dalton of Stoneville, NC who is a
Commercial Loans Manager for Wells Fargo and I have one precious
daughter, Kya Redd.
