Volunteer Opportunities

Compris Research Study

SMART Recovery is excited to partner with Compris, Inc. in a research study for members and their families. Compris is interested in learning if guidance helps one understand their strengths, risks, and recovery support needs. Click here to learn more about this opportunity.

Personality Type & Addiction Research Study

SMART Recovery is excited to partner with iConnectHealth to conduct a robust study determining the relationship between personality type and addiction problems, and to identify which factors may mediate that relationship. The research will also explore the potential benefit of matching mutual help groups and/or treatment orientation with personality types. Click here to learn more about this opportunity.

Fletcher Group RCOE Initiative

We are looking for knowledgeable volunteers who are interested in helping our online training team. As a member of this team, you would help to monitor and answer questions in the forums accessible to the trainees and participate in our twice-monthly training role-play meetings.

Helpful Hints

SROL Distribution Lists

SROL now has distribution lists to make it easier to keep in touch with each other. These are the group emails that you can use to reach out to everyone who shares the same volunteer role(s) as you. You would not be able to send an email to a group that you are not a member of. Below are the distribution lists:

For example, if you are in search of coverage or have a question, you can now reach out to other volunteers using these emails. We encourage you to use these distribution lists as a way to share ideas, reach out for support, and stay connected with SMART Recovery.

Meetings of Interest for Volunteers

SMART 4 Volunteers (S4V)

SMART 4 VOLUNTEERS (S4V) is a private SMART Recovery meeting for our volunteers.  While volunteering, people need to take time to focus on themselves. We offer a place where you can focus on your own wellbeing and recovery, with the security of being supported by your peers. This meeting has a different purpose than the SMART Meeting Management (SMM) meetings.

This group meets on Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m. ET. and is facilitated by Jasper2016.

SMART Meeting Management (SMM) Meetings

If you are interested in furthering your meeting management skills or more smoothly handling challenges you might encounter while facilitating your meeting, this is the meeting for you!

The SMART Meeting Management (SMM) meetings are every:

  • Monday: 10:00 p.m. ET

  • Wednesday: 8:00 p.m. ET

  • Friday: 6:00 p.m. ET

(NOTE: Zoom links for these meetings are behind the VHQ login.)

Volunteer Recognition

SMART knows that it's our volunteers that create the biggest impact in the lives of those we serve, and we wanted a way to recognize the work you do. Started during Volunteer Month, we will continue to feature several of the volunteers you recognized through the Volunteer Recognition Program.

Loretta Billingsley (JunosMom) - SROL Facilitator

Loretta holds the Saturday morning woman's meeting and Landis3125 is her meeting helper. They both do an amazing job and deserve much recognition.  Women feel safe to share anything and the environment is so supportive. This also includes the woman's forum too.  It really has been made a special space by these two in recovery to come and feel supported, safe, and understood. Loretta  also manages to get amazing speakers to come to our Woman's Group meetings that give us all new perspectives and ideas.

Caitlyn Lewis - Facilitator, Kentucky

Caitlyn is a powerful motivator. Her drive to accept anyone for who they are and where they are, is remarkable in itself. She could move mountains, if she tried hard enough. Anything Caitlyn does, she gives it everything she's got.
