Help us train 100 new trainees and start 100 new meetings!

We have a goal of raising $10,000 this month, which would cover the cost of 100 training scholarships! More individuals trained means more SMART Recovery meetings in communities around the country.

Help us spread SMART Recovery to more who need it. Donate to the Volunteer Month Scholarship Training Fund between now and April 15th.

Your contribution makes a significant impact in helping train future facilitators to empower those in recovery to live Life Beyond Addiction.

Volunteer Recognition

SMART knows that it's our volunteers that create the biggest impact in the lives of those we serve, and we wanted a way to recognize the work you do. Throughout the month, we will be featuring several of the volunteers you recognized through the new Volunteer Recognition Program.

Stefan Neff - Facilitator and Regional Coordinator, British Columbia

Stefan's commitment to SMART Recovery is very commendable. He runs great meetings with a lot of insight. He also makes himself available to people who are struggling or in crisis. In addition, he is very committed to spreading SMART throughout BC. He is constantly working with health authorities and other organizations to incorporate SMART into their programs. Stefan's passion for SMART is unstoppable. I am grateful to be part of his multiple weekly meetings.

Todd Smit - Facilitator, Michigan

Todd has given back tirelessly to the recovery community in my area by hosting and co-facilitating several meetings a week, all while working to complete his secondary education in addiction related treatment service. Over the past year we have spoken personally to thousands of people in the inpatient facility where I facilitate a Smart meeting every Thursday evening. Todd facilitates his own meeting every Saturday morning and assists with a Wednesday meeting as well. In addition, he has been there to take countless phone calls and emails from meeting attendees needing help or just someone to talk to. He has done all this with very little complaint, other than about technical glitches, which drive him a little nuts. He deserves some recognition for his hard work.

Steve Kind - Facilitator, Minnesota

After struggling to find a more meaningful recovery group in the Mankato Minnesota area, Steve discovered SMART Recovery. He became a SMART facilitator and started the first ever SMART Recovery group in the Mankato area. He began his quest to spread the word of a new recovery group, looking for members to join something a bit different than other groups. He used everything available to get the word out, posters, pamphlets, social media as well as speaking in front of any group that would have him. It was a challenging endeavor, and he spent many hours sitting alone in the meeting room waiting for just one body to show up.

Eventually, people began to trickle in. Steve is a dynamic speaker and leader and the group began incredible growth. Fast forward to 2022 and the rise of ZOOM meetings; the Mankato SMART Recovery group has members from all areas around Mankato to suburban Minneapolis and as far north as Fargo, North Dakota. With ZOOM meetings our SMART group, headquartered in Mankato, has grown to 94 members. Steve has recruited other facilitators, me being one, plus several others who are in training.
