As we approach our Silver Anniversary and National Conference in Chicago September 20–22, I want to personally thank you for your volunteer efforts on our behalf. Regardless of the path that led you to SMART Recovery, you can be certain that your weekly online and face-to-face meetings and related volunteer assistance have helped thousands of people gain control of their addictive behaviors and lead happier, more productive lives.
Our phenomenal growth and success have been built brick-by-brick, day-in and day-out with the passion, excellence, and commitment that you and others have provided SMART over the years. And now, as we look ahead to our next 25 years of greater growth and impact, I want to encourage you to attend our National Conference to celebrate with us and deepen your collaboration with SMART Recovery.
This year’s conference will be different than in years past. We’ll announce several exciting new initiatives and strategies that will position our organization for unprecedented worldwide growth in the coming years.
Our esteemed speakers will provide us with new perspectives and present cutting-edge research in the addiction and recovery field.
And as always, a Q&A session with our diverse panel will give you the opportunity to share your challenges, successes and views with others in the recovery community.
Our focus this year and beyond is offering support to start and sustain more SMART Recovery meetings, growing our volunteer base, and improving support of our meeting facilitators and volunteers. We’ll also be announcing major improvements and new online collaborative tools designed to reduce volunteer burnout and enhance your enjoyment and effectiveness as a volunteer.
Come to be entertained as well! Besides the fun social and networking opportunities, we will also host the worldwide red-carpet premiere of AUTHENTICS, a gripping new short film about recovery, and the first-ever to feature SMART Recovery in its storyline.
Video content and other rich media like this will play an increasingly important role in our outreach, volunteer training, and participant support efforts going forward.
