Subject: Day 5 - Minor Pentatonic Scale and mini improvisation exercise

Hello Friend

Day 5 - Minor Pentatonic Scale

Instructions:

Have a little fun playing with the minor pentatonic scale over a backing track. The first audio is just for intonation reference.

You can find the backing track below the image.

Run the scale as written to learn the fingerings for 3 minutes using the track instead of a metronome. This is way more fun to practice technique!

Once you have internalized the scale, try having some fun by playing around with the scale notes order, improvising little rhythmic patterns, adding silences, you name it! If you don't know how to do this, don't worry! I've added some rhythm ideas below the track.

Start with one rhythmic motive only for a few minutes. Keep the rhythm, only improvise the notes using only notes from the minor pentatonic scale.

You can start by playing one bar, resting for one or two bars, so you get a chance to think ahead for your next improvised bar.

Try it out, and if you get stuck or don't know how to start, ask questions below.
