Your Pets are Barometers.
Have you ever noticed that when you are sad or down, that your pet is mopey?
Or when you are excited about something, your pet is too?
Your pets are reflecting you.
When you notice your pet being anxious and unsettled, that's a good sign to check in with yourself, take a pause, a deep breath to help settle both you and your pet.
I have a funny story with my cat, Spirit. I was reading a fiction book that got suspenseful (which isn't my normal reading). Spirit was getting agitated and kept leaping over my book to get to me to calm me. As I was engrossed in the moment of the book and Spirit jumping on me was adding to the suspense and I couldn't focus on the book. I ended up going to my bedroom, shutting the door just to finish my book!
In his mind he was "helping". I now know if I'm going to read something suspenseful, I need to do it away from Spirit to keep him settled. Learning Opportunities:
