| Welcome to April. It's time for spring cleaning, getting out socializing, and playing.
Yes, you heard me correctly - playing. If you are like me, you haven't always prioritized play as there can be a lot to take care of as an adult.
I have now given myself permission to play and it is a regular part of my schedule. I feel better which makes me a better pet guardian, mom, daughter, sister, friend, colleague... you get the picture, it makes me a better person.
I just came back from spending some time at an Oregon beach, being with the fresh air and ocean waves. That does wonders for my soul. And I was spending time with a friend I hadn't seen in a while which was icing on the cake.
Speaking of friends and play, I have a friend, Shelly, who plays for a living. Say what?! Yes, Shelly is playing everyday and helping others play too.
Shelly is the owner of EarthJoy where you get to explore and play on 285 acres of nature trails, creeks, swings, 150-foot long slides and stay overnight in one of her 4 treehouses.
What's great about this is they are pet friendly so you can take your dog with you on this adventure.
Shelly's husband, Bill, guides tree climbing adventures.
They have adventures to meet all the play needs for you and your family.
One of their treehouses is a Pete Nelson treehouse where Shelly and Bill were featured on Animal Planet's Treehouse Masters TV Show. It was fun seeing my friend featured on national tv.
Below is a picture of the Aliyah treehouse. It was named after Shelly's grandaughter who brings more play into Shelly's already playful life.

| Chakra 4 Exercise
The importance of the Chakra 4 also called Heart Chakra is that it is about compassion and joy.
Joy is the keyword as we are talking about play.
According to an article published in the New York Times: How to Add More Play to Your Grown-Up Life, Even Now, referenced a study published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences that identified four categories of playful personality traits: - other-directed - when you enjoy playing with other people
- lighthearted - generally means you don’t take life too seriously, and you like to improvise
- intellectual- has to do with ideas and thoughts, like wordplay and problem-solving
- whimsical - like doing odd or unusual things in everyday life
I invite you to determine your number one play preference and do an activity (can be simple at home that doesn't cost you any money and not a lot of time or you can do an outing) where you are truly having joy just for the fun of it.
Play is tapping back into something you used to like to do that is personal and fulfilling with no result or goal in mind other than to have fun.
As a child, I liked to climb. I climbed trees. I even climbed our antennae pole and ran around on the roof of our house (before my mom would hear me and I would get in trouble). I now do indoor rock climbing and have a blast.
Notice your heart sing with joy! That is your heart chakra being activated and that connects with your pet's heart chakra where they love seeing you having joy.
