Hello Friend,

A cheery Tuesday to you and your family :-)

I spent part of the weekend camping with this guy...this is a picture of when he was 4 months ( and liked to bite..)...he's over that and now likes to bark, so that could be my next video ....

If you are at all serious about at home veterinary care, then this is a skill that you should learn

Why you should be using Acupressure
Let's say you have a middle aged to older dog or cat.

And that you have been to your vet on a regular basis..the vet has diagnosed your pet with degenerative joint disease (arthritis)..

It's been a while since you've been to the vet, but your dog is especially stiff on the same arthritic leg.

You would like some anti-inflammatories/pain killers, BUT you can't get a prescription UNTIL you get another $60 vet exam..

Which will likely say your dog has arthritis (surprise!), and you need these pricey/potentially harmful Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatories (NSAIDS)

SO what can you do?

1. You can consider the OTC NSAID, Aspirin. The dog aspirin dose is 325mg per 40lbs twice daily.  I would caution you using it, especially long term ( as with any anti-inflammatory).

2. Go to the vet, suck it up and pay the $60, and get a new prescription..

3. Learn some basic acupressure techniques.

Here is one point easy to find, and that you can regularly use.

The easiest way to start is to locate a point called ‘The Aspirin
Joint’.

It is found on the outside webbing of your dog’s hock joint-
this is the joint just up from their back feet.

Place your index finger on the outside of this web of skin and with moderate pressure, hold for 60 seconds.

I suggest performing this 3 times a day for 7 days, and assessing if it is helping your dog.
