[Warning] CBD Side Effects

Hola Friend,

A cheery Monday to you from Zihuatanejo Mexico!..

Or Buenos Dias to those of you who understand Espanol..for me it is solo un pequeno espanol :-)

We are just finishing off a little pre-winter getaway, but I was able to connect with a local animal rescue shelter, and there will be a video about The Sociedad Protectora de Animales de Zihuatanejo next week.

Wonderful people, great place to visit, a tonne of wild critters (many crocodiles :-)  )

A visitor was chatting with me, and had a bunch of questions about CBD (cannabidiol), and whether or not it would be helpful for their arthritic pets..

My short answer was likely yes, BUT..it is important to start with a Organic, Whole Plant Extract, that uses Hemp Seed Oil as the carrier oil.

My new CBD Supplement, Dr Jones Ultimate CBD for Dogs and Cats fits all those criteria, and I have been getting some great feedback.

If you have yet to try it, you can do so now with 10% OFF here..

Here are some Mexico pics..
The Beach... Play La Ropa...  (beautiful beach, clean, warm water, and awesome sunsets!)

The scorpion was in front of our Bathroom 2 nights ago ( my wife nearly stepped on him... we were in a rental next to the jungle..

We saw a turtle laying eggs on the beach, many a baby tortuga being released after hatching into the ocean at night, and many a croc in the mangrove at the end of the beach..

The above crocodile was hanging out next to the Mangrove on my run this morning..but as you can see I was safely situated behind that sturdy green fencing :-)

                    CBD (Cannabidiol) Side Effects

Few to NO side effects are reported by most dog and cat owners using CBD with their pets. But here are some that you should take into account…

Dry mouth: Research has shown that CBD can decrease the production of saliva. For dogs, this would manifest as an increased thirst.

Lowered blood pressure: High doses of CBD have been known to cause a temporary drop in blood pressure. Even though the drop is small, it might create a brief feeling of light-headedness.

Drowsiness: Dog owners have used CBD to treat anxiety. The calming effect of CBD can also cause slight drowsiness, especially when using higher doses.

Vomiting and Diarrhea, primarily if MCT oil is used as the carrier oil
If ‘low quality’ concern about solvent toxicity and residues (ie using acetone, butane, benzene), carcinogenic, some are neurotoxins

Drug Reactions?

Any drug metabolized by CYP450 enzymes could potentially interact with cannabidiol. According to the Indiana University Department of Medicine, drugs known to use the CYP450 system include:

Steroids( ie Prednisone),
Calcium channel blockers,
Antihistamines
Benzodiazepines ( ie Valium),
Antiarrythmics
Antibiotics,
Anesthetics,
Antidepressants ( ie Clomicalm, Amitryptilline)
Anti-epileptics,
Beta blockers,
NSAIDs ( most common Anti-inflammatories)

Most of these though are DOSE dependent, and at the levels CBD is given (1mg/10bs), there are few drug interactions reported. That being said, it is still wise to be discussing this with your veterinarian.
