Homeopathy debate at the AVMA
----------------------------------------

Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) proposed that the AVMA adopt a policy stating that homeopathy be considered an ineffective practice and its use discouraged.

The Evidence-Based Veterinary Medical Association (EBVMA) officially endorsed the resolution as proposed by the CVMA and created a white paper in support of it. Brennen McKenzie, DVM, president of the group, says one of the biggest concerns is that it’s misleading to offer an ineffective therapy to animal owners. “In the case of homeopathy, there is overwhelming evidence that it is incompatible with the basic principles of established science,” he says.

Richard Palmquist, DVM, president of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Foundation (AHVMF), says that the AHVMF’s sole purpose is to do research in an area where there’s not a lot of research. He points out that while there is actually a large body of scientific evidence supporting homeopathy as an effective practice, more research can—and should—be done.

“If you condemn practices which are widely used in the U.S. and worldwide, you are missing a chance to publish case studies and encourage more research to elucidate the mechanisms of these practices,” Scanlan says. While it’s clear that those in support of and opposed to the original resolution are fiercely standing their ground, at this time the final decision rests on the shoulders of the AVMA’s

P.S. It's great to see debate, BUT can you see just HOW closed minded the 'Evidence Based' Veterinarians are...

Stick your head int the sand and it will ALL go away approach.

Hmmmm

Veterinarians need to be informed about ALL forms of treatment, and be able to offer guidance. Including homeopathy.

It will continue to be used by MILLIONS of pet owners, regardless of ANY Veterinary Association resolution.

This is 2013, NOT 1970

Times have changed.

Here is where you can start with ALL the most important homeopathic remedies:

P.P.S. Luc Montagnier, Nobel Prize Winner, Takes Homeopathy Seriously

Dr. Luc Montagnier, the French virologist who won the Nobel Prize in 2008 for discovering the AIDS virus, has surprised the scientific community with his strong support for homeopathic medicine.

Most clinical research conducted on homeopathic medicines that has been published in peer-review journals have shown positive clinical results, especially in the treatment of respiratory allergies, influenza, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, childhood diarrhea, post-surgical abdominal surgery recovery, attention deficit disorder, and reduction in the side effects of conventional cancer treatments. In addition to clinical trials, several hundred basic science studies have confirmed the biological activity of homeopathic medicines. One type of basic science trials, called in vitro studies, found 67 experiments (1/3 of them replications) and nearly 3/4 of all replications were positive.

In addition to the wide variety of basic science evidence and clinical research, further evidence for homeopathy resides in the fact that they gained widespread popularity in the U.S. and Europe during the 19th century due to the impressive results people experienced in the treatment of epidemics that raged during that time, including cholera, typhoid, yellow fever, scarlet fever, and influenza.

Although it is common for modern-day scientists to assume that none of the original molecules remain in solution, Montagnier's research (and other of many of his colleagues) has verified that electromagnetic signals of the original medicine remains in the water and has dramatic biological effects.

P.P.P.S. A Homeopathic remedy for airborne allergies: Skin and Seborrhea Remedy; HomeoPet.

The homeopathic remedy contains sulfur, staphysagria, psorinum, graphites, and arsenicum album.
