Dr Jones' Top 11 Pet Home Remedies

1. OTC Ear Infection remedy

This isn't actually 'natural' as it uses OTC meds, but it works so well, I need to include it. Most dog ear infections are caused by yeast, secondary to an allergy.

Antifungal- Canesten (Clotrimazole), 1 tablespoon

Anti-inflammatory- 1% Hydrocortisone, 1 tablespoon

Mix the creams thoroughly, apply 1/4 inch twice daily into the ears for 5 days.

This is the 'natural' Ear INFECTION mixture.

New Anti-Yeast Ear Recipe: Mix 1 cup of green tea, 2 tablespoons of ACV, and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Ensure it’s at room temperature and that the coconut oil has melted. Use this as a flush to clean the ears, then apply 5 drops in each ear twice daily for 5 days as needed.

10. Dog Dandruff Shampoo

STINKY Dog Shampoo Remedy for Dandruff.. or Botanical SELSUN Blue
- 1 cup of green tea,
- 2 tablespoons of castile soap
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
- 2 tablespoons of ACV
Or SELSUN BLUE Botanical Shampoo ( has essential oils), both great for Yeast

Leave on for 10 minutes, rinse well, at least once per week

9. STOP dog Coughing/Kennel Cough fast!

Honey and Green Tea

Honey is a well studied natural antibacterial/antiviral that also will coat an inflamed throat lessening coughing. In fact it is more effective than OTC cough syrup. Dark, unpasteurized honey is best

Green Tea is a very beneficial anti-inflammatory, and has some great anti-bacterial properties.

1/2 cup of green tea

1 tablespoon of honey

An easy safe, and effective option for cough
Dose: 1 tspn/ 10lbs body weight

8. DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide)-Topical Pain relief

Russian Chemist in 1800’s discovered it

Contains Sulfur, allowing it to affect many cells.. great for arthritis, used in combination with Cannabidiol for Feline Urinary Tract Disease

Rapidly penetrates skin, blood brain barrier,
HOW to use: apply topically to a painful joint- it is odorless and tasteless, but wear gloves. This was used often in my veterinary practice as it brings other medications through the skin into the joint/body.  Can apply a topical first (ie CBD or Traumeel) and then the DMSO

7. Natural Antibiotics-PROPOLIS

This is known as 'Bee Glue' and this is what bees use to reinforce their hive. I am seeing it be extremely effective as a natural antibacterial with no side effects. Tula had a difficult to treat nose infection, and this is the one thing that worked.

Doses: 100mg/10lbs body weight twice daily. It comes in 500mg capsules, so it may be easier to do a once daily dose.

6. QUERCETIN for COVID/Allergies

In apple, red wine, red onion, blueberries, green tea

2014 paper… studies for its effectiveness against the common cold.
Montreal study against COVID 19, also being studied for SARS, inhibits viral replication early on in the process.

It is a well documented anti-inflammatory, and being used for animals and people with allergy.
It is also a good option as a holistic antiviral
Dose: Approx. 3mg /lb twice daily for dogs/cats. Our All Natural Quercetin Supplement is a great option, and it's now ON SALE for 20% OFF!

5. How to QUICKLY Stop a Bleeding Nail

So I was trimming Tula's nails.. she squirmed and .. BLOOD rapidly dripping from one nail
WHAT to do?
-don’t panic
-apply pressure..
-CORNSTARCH ( a small amount of Cornstarch in the bottom of a bowl worked awesome) leave in the bowl for a least 3 minutes
-ICE CUBE ( ice will cause the blood vessels to constrict, and it really works!!)

4 Slippery ELM

From the bark of the Slippery Elm tree..

Some of the documented uses:
Chronic Renal Failure in Cats ( and dogs), Vomiting, Diarrhea, IBD, Coughing

Very safe and beneficial.. get the fine inner ground powder when mixed with water forms this slimy/mucilage powder.. soothes by coating the throat, intestinal tract.. brownish paste..
You may only be able to get the capsules which is fine, just break them open and combine with water.

A typical dose of 100mg/10lbs daily. A good remedy to have on hand, especially for Vomiting/Diarrhea

3. Castor Oil

Castor Oil has an array of medicinal benefits for your dogs and cats. It is used for constipation, dog allergies, topical for arthritis, speed up wound healing, along with stopping dandruff and treating acne.

Castor bean, used as an industrial lubricant….

Active ingredient is ricinoleic acid ( broken down in intestine.. stimulant laxative)
It is especially safe, and I have been using it topically for wound healing and relief of minor arthritis pain. Try it out on your own hands as it starts out very thick/viscous, but dose get absorbed.
A very safe option for constipation in dogs and cats.
Dose of 1/2 teaspoon/10lbs

1. Panacur for Cancer

Joe Tippens story, cancer spread, no chance to live.. a vet suggested taking fenbendazole.. Joe was given NO chance to live, and was cleared of cancer in 4 weeks
Since this has been published, other reports of people finding success with some types of cancer, and may also be able to help our dogs and cats with cancer
There is research showing how fenbendazole destabilizes part of the cell walls of cancer cells leading to cell death.
Doses for deworming 50mg/kg once daily for 3 days
 Liquid is 100mg/ml concentration

Regimen for cancer is 50mg/kg once daily for 3 days on/ 4 days off
