Hello Friend,
A cheery Wednesday to you and ALL of your family..especially the furry ones :-)
Yes..another recall, highlighting the importance of what you feed your dog or cat, and HOW to keep them healthy in the 1st place.
One of the big keys in my opinion is a quality, natural supplement with a proven track record of being safe and effective.
It just so happens that my supplements which have been sold for over 10 years, and to thousands of dogs and cats, fall into that category.
IF you have yet to try them, I encourage you to do so as you can start with a 37% OFF trial

| | Two food companies issue recalls following customer complaints of vitamin D toxicity
Both have warned pet owners of potential symptoms to look for in their dogs
Source: Veterinary Practice News
Missouri-based pet food companies Natural Life Pet Products and Nutrisca are recalling certain dry dog foods following three complaints from pet owners about vitamin D toxicity.
According to the companies’ recall notices on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website, the presence of excessive vitamin D came from a formulation error.
Symptoms of dogs ingesting too much vitamin D include vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss.
According to the notices, consumers should immediately stop feeding the following products to their dogs:
Nutrisca Chicken and Chickpea Dry Dog Food (4 lb., 15 lb., and 28 lb.) Natural Life Chicken & Potato Dry Dog Food (17.5 lb.)
The companies urge consumers who have purchased the products affected by this recall to dispose of it and contact a veterinarian should their animal show symptoms of vitamin D toxicity.

Veterinary Secrets Pet of the Week!

This is Chiquis, my 10+ year old Chihuahua mix.
He’s always been very healthy until very recently when I saw blood in his urine which was apparently caused by an enlarged prostate and therefore the best treatment was to have him neutered. Post-surgery, he bounced back fine.
Now, shortly later, he’s having new symptoms (weight gain, occasional coughing/gagging/vomiting sounds with a “velcro” type sound heard in his lungs by stethoscope and prolonged sleeping).
In response, the first vet simply provided antibiotics whereas a second vet is recommending a heart ultrasound as he thinks a heart condition is causing the lung/breathing problems!
At this point, I have a lot of suspicions just based on the proximity of these unexpected symptoms to the neutering procedure in an otherwise very healthy dog and may take him back to our previous animal clinic in Toronto.
Alan
Thanks Alan - he looks great! The symptoms you describe may be secondary from the endotracheal tube in surgery irritating his airway- he may have a more sensitive airway as well.
I personally would be trying 1 teaspoon of dark honey with 1/4 ml of licorice tincture twice a day 1st for 7-10 days
