Hello Friend,

A BIG Hi to you and your furry friends this Thursday.

------------------------------
Pet Emergency Care
------------------------------

They happen surprisingly often- the key for you is being prepared. Here is my extensive book on dog and cat first aid:

Help stop the bleeding
----------------------------------------

One of the more common emergency calls I received was about injured animals- or even owner inflicted ones...more specifically owners trying to cut their pet's nails, and the nails started to bleed.

In the short term you want to apply something to STOP the bleeding.

In a veterinary clinic, we have specific products, but most owners are without these.

WHAT to use?

Recently my neighbor did the exact above thing ( cut his dog's nails too short), and phoned me asking WHAT he could do..

I suggested flour, then applying a clean towel/gauze and pressure.

Didn't work.

OK plan B

I have been learning about some of the newer, up and coming remedies.

I suggested Cayenne Pepper topically, then again wrapping the foot and applying pressure.

It worked IMMEDIATELY!

Happy owner and happier dog- my next lesson is on how NOT to cut the nails too short.

P.S. The next time you have a nail that won't STOP bleeding, you could try this.

The next time you have ANY emergency, be aware of EXACTLY what to do.
