Hair Loss, Itching, Recurring Ear Infections

If your dog has any of these conditions, you are likely thinking that there is NOTHING else you can do.

It gets TOO bad

Go to the VET

Get a prescription of STEROIDS.

Itching Stops, BUT SIDE EFFECTS ( ie increased drinking, increased urinating, and IMMUNE suppression...)

Hopefully side effects are NOT too severe, BUT the itching RETURNS when the PILLS run out..

Here is something else to consider:

A number of studies show that nettle may help manage allergies and ease symptoms like sneezing, nasal congestion, and itching. In one study published in 2009, scientists discovered that nettle may help treat allergies by reducing inflammation.

The study published in the journal Phytotherapy Research in 2009 demonstrated in the laboratory that the Nettle leaf blocks histamine receptors, and acts to block prostaglandin production by the COX-1 and COX-2 pathways. It also blocks the release of enzymes from mast cells. All those effects together make this a pretty potent anti-allergy medicine. And confirming the lab data are some studies showing that it reduces sneezing and runny nose for people with allergies.

Make sure you are giving a freeze-dried extract of the leaves. This is the one with the biologic activity preserved.

The recommended dosage for a 160lb person is 300 mg freeze dried leaves 2 or 3 times daily during allergy season. It will not cause any drowsiness like some antihistamines, and still is just as effective in the observation of herbal practitioners.

The animal dose is 25mg per 10lbs twice daily.

Heal Your Pet At Home!

Best Wishes,

Dr Andrew Jones, DVM
