If your pet is FAT, they are at risk for this...
May 9th, 2012 at 6:07 am ESTHi Friend,
A cheery Wednesday to you and your pets.
Today's newsletter concerns osteoarthritis in pets- this is very common, and fortunately you have many more options available to you than just conventional medication.
A recent review study concluded that 2 very important nutrients to aid in helping arthritis in dogs is Glucosamine and Chondroitin.
They help cats as well, but the key is to have them in adequate doses that your pet consumes. My supplement contains adequate doses, and pets love it!

Weight Management
----------------------------
Osteoarthritis is one of the MOST common veterinary diseases- stats vary, but it affects over 20% of all dogs, and 10% of cats.
Causes relate to joint instability,(ie hip dysplasia, anterior cruciate ligament injury), and aging changes where there is loss of the smooth articular cartilage, leading to bone rubbing on bone.
It's uncomfortable, and painful
But what do you think is the single biggest thing you can do to help?
Surprisingly it's not a specific medication or supplement, but
Weight Management
Obesity increases stresses on the joints, joint supporting tissues and articular cartilage.
The fatty cells also lead to more joint inflammation ( in the form of proinflammatory cytokines)- and further joint damage.
When you weigh more you DO LESS leading to MORE WEIGHT.
One vicious cycle.
So if your dog or cat is overweight, you NEED to be doing something about this.
Cut OUT the carbohydates- ESPECIALLY in cats.
Feed a higher protein pet food, and use canned food.
For cat owners use ONLY canned food.
This is the BIG 'Secret' to weight reduction.
Best Wishes,
Dr Andrew Jones, DVM
P.S. There are MANY dog and cat supplements available, BUT if your pet won't eat them, they are worthless.
And NO ONE ( including me) enjoys forcing your dog (and especially cat) to take anything against their will
I have many a scratch from forcing pills down the mouth of an angry cat :-(
I created my supplements with taste in mind- and virtually ALL dogs and cats agree
On top of that, they contain Glucosamine and Chondroitin- 2 KEY ingredients to aid in decreasing arthritis pain and inflammation.
And IF you pet has less pain, they exercise MORE, leading to WEIGH LOSS.
A Win/Win situation.
